Unlikely duet: Jamie Foxx/Streisand record together

Actor/singer Jamie Foxx released a tweet a few days ago, telling followers his life is 'blessed' as he had just finishing recording a duet with the legendary Barbra Streisand.

Streisand tweeted back to Jamie - 'so sweet,funny...excellent singer, too!'

The song they dueted on is "Climb Every Mountain" from the musical 'The Sound of Music', expected on Barbra's upcoming third album of Broadway music.

LITERALLY like a sketch from MADtv.

There is something very wrong with the world when real life plays out like satire.

Room for one more, honey.

Is this SOME KIND OF JOKE???

reply

No...no joke. He even included a picture of the two of them in the recording studio last week (I think it was Thursday).

If someone had told me in 1991 that 25 years in the future Barbara Streisand will record an album duet with two-bit "In Living Color" performer Jamie Foxx -- and The Sound of Music's "Climb Every Mountain", no less -- I would have concluded that the world of 2016 HAD GONE INSANE.

And apparently it has.

What if someone told you - in 1991 - that 14 years into the future, the same two-bit 'In Living Color' performer Jamie Foxx:

Would be nominated for 2 Oscars that year for Best Supporting Actor ("Collateral") , and Best Actor ("Ray") AND win Best Actor for "Ray"?

And by 2010, he would have 10 Grammy nods under his belt with 2 wins?

By 2009, he would have scored 3 American Music Awards nominations, and win one for Favorite R&B male singer in 2006?

By 2005 would have 3 Golden Globe Awards to his name, and win 'Best Actor' for "Ray"?

In 2007, would win critical acclaim for his role of Curtis in 'Dreamgirls'?

Please do not bring up awards.

Madonna has an award (Golden Globe) for acting (!), as does recent award winner, Lady Gaga -- which is a complete joke.

Jamie Foxx was chosen as a duet partner in a futile attempt to remain relevant with the perceived "hip, young, urban" crowd.

Yes, but for every Madonna's Acting Award there's Meryl Streep. For every GaGa award there's Streisand. SO it all evens out in the end.

He's pushing middle-age at 48. If she wanted to attract a hip younger urban crowd she would have to go another 25 years younger - and she would find plenty. They
re a dime a dozen.

Come on. Really. For Foxx to be recording with Streisand (!) for
a third album of Broadway songs (!!), and from "The Sound of Music"(!!!)
is totally ridiculous. And you know it.

Streisand is 74 and has gone the way of Sinatra and Tony Bennett -
because she has to.
