Hypocrite

For really making a comeback by doing action movies with a lot of violence and gun play, it is amusing that he has puked his opinion out about gun ownership in the United States, even going so far as to say he doesnt believe in the Second Amendment right to bear arms. Hollywood liberals. It is unfortunate that not all of us can live in secure million dollar neighborhoods.

I agree. He's a great actor, but like most in entertainment, it's best they keep out of politics unless they want to embarrass themselves or tick off former fans.

He's just like that other hypocrite Anthony Hopkins, who, despite playing Hannibal Lector, is against cannibalism. The nerve of these people.

Where is the comparison?

Hannibal Lector is portrayed as a contemptible human being, and his cannibalism horrifying disgusting. When people see those SOTL movies, people are revolted by him and cannibalism. The films don't glamorize him or his activities.

Neeson's characters are portrayed as upstanding heroes whose gun violence is depicted as cool and heroic. When people see his films, they are not revolted by him; they see him as admirable and guns a cool, appropriate solution to resolving issues.

So yes, Neeson IS a hypocrite if he's anti-gun because it's movies like his--which glamorize gunplay--that are contributing to America's fascination with guns. If he really hates gun violence, he should actually do a movie about how guns can ruin lives rather than keep doing these types of movies where he gets to be the cool badass blowing people away as if in a video game.

You need to be able to separate fantasy from real life. Playing a role in a fantasy movie doesn't mean you're a hypocrite for not wanting everyone and their dog to have access to guns. Movies like "Taken" are about an escape from reality, and should not have any bearing on political arguments about gun control in real life.

But most people don't--that is the problem. That's why propaganda still exists. If people were able to separate fantasy from real life, filmmakers wouldn't even bother making propagandistic movies. But they still make them. In fact, movies are more propagandistic than ever these days because audiences just swallow everything they see on screen without thinking.
