Remember, MOST of us die of addictions

People need to remember that most of us die of addictions -- addictions we're too "selfish" to stop...

The wrong foods clog our hearts, alcohol rots the pancreas and liver, smoking kills the lungs, various other intake errors kill us in other ways.

But those things are socially acceptable.

Yet when someone dies of a non-regulated substance, we tend to feel angrier at "the waste" and at the person for doing themselves in unnecessarily.

But it's not really any different. And we need to remember that.

Heroin is such a bad substance because it seems mild at first, very seductively calming, and often creates a permanent chemical imbalance in the brain almost immediately for many users, leaving the person in a lifelong struggle from then on.

It's easy to sneer at the victim, or to be angry if we've valued him and his work.

But it can't be a fun spiral to suddenly realize you're caught in.

And, yes, it's awful the effect this will have on his children.
