Pretty much any celebrity charges for their autographs when they're in a formal setting, like a convention or an official signing. Hell, even authors do it at their book signings. I've seen Mark give away some freebies in public, but in general, charging for autographs keeps the vultures at bay. I've seen some celebs get swamped by tons of people who clearly weren't fans and were just planning on selling the autographs for big bucks. It's much more pervasive than you think, and it's only fair to the celebrities that they charge for their autographs to keep people from devaluing their signature.
