Why must Avatar supporters use the "gender card" to explain why their film lost? Maybe they should look at the fact that James "I'm king of the world" Cameron is almost universally despised in Hollywood. Maybe they should consider the possibility that the academy didn't buy into the bloated hype-machine that is Avatar. No, "breasts" is the only reason they can think of. Very sad.
shareHer first mistake was equating mainstream popularity to actual talent! She assumes that just because Avatar is the most successful movie ever made, it should get all the awards. By that logic, movies like Spiderman and Batman should win Oscars too.

Absolutely true, but LOTR had Oscars up its arse. Avatar stepped that up ten notches, so even for visual FX alone, it's one of the most groundbreaking films in our history.
