I doubt that it's easy to find women willing to have a relationship with a guy who is shelling out the amount of alimony that he is and I doubt that he wants to get tied down again any time soon so...?

You're wrong, they really tried to make it work and it was Tea that wanted out not David. I still believe he still cares for her. At least he tried to help himself.
