1. De Niro is a celebrity. And whether we like it or not, our culture puts a lot of stock in celebrities. The media knows this, so they tend to ask celebrities what their thoughts are. The fact that De Niro has a larger platform than you or I do is just how the world works. Maybe it isn't fair, and maybe it should change, but if you or I were famous, we'd probably do the same thing.
2. He was endorsing Clinton, yes. As was his right. Many celebrities do endorsements, which goes back to the fact that our culture values celebrities so highly. Even Trump had celebrity endorsements. Did you feel Ted Nugent was "attempting to cast himself as something he is not" when he backed Trump and called Clinton a "devilbitch"? He was doing the same thing De Niro did, so they're both equally wrong, right?
3. I agree: If this election, and it's results, proved anything, it's how easily people can be duped.
Also, let me get this straight. You get so mad about an actor having different opinions than you that you come to their IMDb page and leave a childish comment about how he needs to shut up, but when I reply with an ironic, one-sentence comment that doesn't even take a side in the election and simply argues that De Niro has a right to speak his mind, I'm the one who's "butthurt"?
