Was very successful in Japan

A fun story mom told me a few years ago was, Audrey Hepburn was very popular over in Japan. Partway through her film career, she did modeling in Japan and had both a makeup and clothing line that was sold over there. The Japanese liked her because she had dark hair/eyes and a figure similar to their women, but she was a proper Western woman and very glamorous. She fit many beauty ideals they had (and probably still have) over there, and she got a very steady income from that market.
