I regularly watch, enjoy, often prefer movies from the 30s-60s. In certain respects they may be corny, or overly romantic, but in others they may be more witty, elegant, aesthetically pleasing, deftly-character driven, subtlety, less vulgar, or ham-handedness, obvious 'messaging', annoying pc. Granted the women, though often enough quite assertive, are generally more traditionally feminine, which I also find appealing. Less intrusive music, hype, razamatazz, outrageously weird characters to give films an 'edge'. Less..... pretense.

Special effects are a matter almost of no concern to me. Its always the story, the characters that interest me. I outgrew super-hero movies many decades ago.

All that said, the best of cinema being produced now is unsurpassed - the art is mature. Its just that there is a lot of good/fun/great stuff back in the old days, too.
