Please stop saying backslash

Unless you're coding or involved in some very niche subject that I'm not aware of, you'll never need to use a \ or even need to know that word. They almost never appear in URLs. Certain browsers will correct this mistake, but just stop, seriously.

Why do so many on-hold recording messages, like for certain VA hospitals even, egregiously use the word backslash as though it means the same thing as slash? Not only are you showing your computer illiteracy, but you're wasting your time and breath saying a syllable YOU'LL NEVER NEED.

To recap, / is a slash, the only one you'll ever need, so cut it out.

I use backslashes every flipping day. It's a pretty common thing to use with computers in an active domain environment. Even for the end users in secure environments.

Great. If you are using them, and you are calling them by their appropriate name, keep it up. I just regularly hear people calling / a backslash, which as you are aware, is incorrect.
