Did some of the Monty Python crew display signs of an Oxbridge superiority complex?

I'm thinking of John Cleese, Eric Idle and Michael Palin in particular. The Bruce sketch is really a savage dig at Australians and Michael Palin was also quite snooty when he came across a group of Australians during his African travel documentary. Then there was Cleese's Upper Class Twit of the Year stuff.

Perhaps they did twit nerds more often than the "upper class," but then there is the "horrible words" sketch (Oh, tinny!) and all their put-downs of "toffee-nosed pukes."

But they were closer to being "toffee nosed pukes" than anything else themselves. Or am I missing some subtlety to do with English class distinctions ?
