Standup vs. Comedy Podcasts

It seems at this point virtually every comedian has a podcast, and they all do each other's pods on a regular basis.

I'm a lifelong fan of standup, even being that I've always found it somehow a terrible format, but I'm finding lately that I often enjoy the podcasts more than standup.

I love hearing a funny person just be their naturally funny self. It can be a lot more intimate and human with the high pressure off, and that can give you something more relatable. You're discovering the nuggets along with them and the honest moment of stumbling upon gold is sometimes manyfold more hilarious for that realness.

Chris D'elia and Brian Callen for example - I like their standup well enough but Chris's pod, Congratulations, when it gets good, and his ongoing rivalry with Callen on Fighter and the Kid, is bloody murder.
