You've made a good point. But I think the election revolt was deeper than that.
A lot of voters were sick of 'business as usual' in Washington, and wanted to turn it upside down. They did. The Democrats did screw up on demographic assumptions, and they screwed up in under rating middle America. Trump became the 'f**k you' vote.
People have had many theories about why the Democrats lost. But the number one reason they lost is because of one person. Hillary Clinton.
While Trump was campaigning non-stop Hillary would go missing for days. I might have the state wrong but I think it was Wisconsin. Hillary and her people thought she had that state and she never bothered to go there once during the campaign.
You give probably the best reason. She was their worst possible choice. But they decided to coronate her anyway.
