OT: Buying a new car

So I decided to finally buy a new car. The warranty just expired on my Chevy that I've had for many years, and I just don't like it. I have more than enough to afford a new car just not sure what to buy.

The big auto show is in Pittsburgh this weekend, and I got to look at all the top models for the year. I thought for sure I would like Ford the most, but I left being most impressed with Hyundai. The Elantra and Sonata look great inside and outside, but I'm going to test drive them both next week, along with a Ford Fusion and Focus.

I've driving Fords recently, but just wondering what people on here think about Hyundai.

You're never going to get any truth from us(the media). We'll tell you anything you want to hear.

Yeah but cars go 150,000-200,000 miles regularly now. 20,000 miles is nothing.

I really don't get buying things like cars new but I understand some people don't like to or can't work on their own cars so warranties are important to them, but I do about 80% of any maintenance myself and I have a cousin who was a mechanic that can help me with the rest.

But if you bought a car with 20,000 miles on it if you only drive 10,000 a year that car will still have 13-15 years on it, easily.

I have a 1990 Celica Alltrac with 80,000 on it that I paid 1,800 for a few years ago. I have a 2001 MR2 Spyder that I paid 9,000 for a few year back. It has 50,000 on it but I bought it when it had only 29,000.

I also have a beater 1994 Ranger with 85,000 on it that I paid 1,700 for a couple years ago.

I look for low mileage cars all the time on EBay and I've seen some smoking deals. A few years ago there was a first gen Taurus with 10,000 miles or so, it went for 4 grand. Whoever bought that got a basically new rock solid car for 4,000 bucks.

I don't even like new cars, too much sh it on them that can go wrong and manuals are getting harder and harder to find.
