Might end up seeing 53, the national tour has a local kid in the cast, who was also in the broadway cast, but was out the day we went to see it.

That's damn good! I think my year was lower than ever. Maltida on tour was the most recent - and I'm having trouble right now remembering the others - but I didn't see any bad ones!

reply

Bad ones:
It's a Bird, it's a plane, it's Superman (2 out of 10)
Cannibal: The Musical (3 out of 10

Heathers (4 out of 10)

For Tonight (4 out of 10) only the 3rd workshop production by a new creative team.
The book writer, composer & lyricist have never been part of a new musical before.
This will get better with work.

TO SEEITLIVE:

Never seen Gypsy, Eh? Isn't it funny how people like us can see tons of Musicals, yet certain classics have escaped our radars? I've seen around 150 different musicals, yet still have never seen OKLAHOMA or KISS ME KATE live.

HEATHERS - I almost saw this show. Some of the songs seem contrived. Do you think you saw a bad performance, or do you think the show/music was poorly written? I also almost saw Superman...same question? It seems a campy show that could be done well if done right.

Two by Two - I saw a poor performance and I wonder about the show itself. As you know, it had a strange history and Danny Kaye sort of used the show to take advantage and do stand up stunts (ala Mostel in Fiddler or Jerry Lewis in Damn Yankees)

The only other show that was a miss for me was THEY'RE PLAYING OUR SONG. I saw a professional production. I just don't think it was something I liked...a personal preference thing.
