Who's had the better horror career so far - Vera Farmiga or Jennifer Carpenter?

Vera Farmiga

Bates Motel (2013– )

The Conjuring (2013)

The Conjuring 2 (2016)

Orphan (2009)

Joshua (2007) - not seen

Jennifer Carpenter

The Exorcism of Emily Rose (2005)

Quarantine (2008)

The Devil's Hand (2014)

ok so Vera's got the popular curve and I do love Jennifer in Emily Rose and Quarantine but on the strength of Orphan being the best of all movies. I gotta go with Vera.

From Carpenter I only saw Emily Rose, good on a first watch, not that much any more on a revisit.

From Farmiga I saw Orphan, Conjuring 1 and Joshua. The last 2 were bleh even though I do think Farmiga's acting was good. I thought the boy playing Joshua himself was not that good. Orphan was great but that wasn't because of Farmiga but because of Isabelle Fuhrman and Aryana Engineer.

While I guess Farmiga has the better career it's not that I would check out a movie because she is in it plus if there is 2 (potentially 3 as I doubt I will like Conjuring 2) movies I don't like where she is in.

The only actress I would watch movies that might not appeal to me of is Abigail Breslin. Not that I like anything she is in as even she couldn't save the pathetic excuse of a movie called Zombieland.

So looking at movies I would say Farmiga but acting from what I have seen Carpenter hands down.
So I will go with Carpenter.
