Best Horror Film of the 21st Century

As is the season to talk about horror even more than normal, curious what everyone's favorite 21st Century horror film happens to be?

For me, it's 28 Days Later by Danny Boyle for the simple reason as it freaked me the hell out from beginning to end.

How about you all? And anything under the radar?

The Conjuring.

Old skool horror and scares.

The Thing, from John Carpenter

Most of what the 21st century calls "horror" is indeed horror (able).

A real horror would be something like Mysterious Skin (2004), but that title doesn't fit the genre definition.

The film on any of my Best lists for a 21st century year that comes closest to "horror" is probably last year's psychological suspense The VVitch: A New-England Folktale (2015).

Trust me. I’m The Doctor.

I trusted you, Valentino Rossi!

I half agree with you. Mysterious Skin really stuck with me and made me very uneasy. Not horror as in the genre of horror films, but it definitely put me in touch with the horrible things that can happen to people and the horrible ways those events stick with them. The scene on Halloween where the boy and girl stick a bottle rocket in the mouth of a disabled child and set it off totally disturbed me, as did his attempt to soothe him after. I watched that film several years ago but can still see that scene in my mind if I allow myself.

But I just recently watched the VVitch...and just didn't find it as enthralling as everyone else seemed to. No horror there for me.

I'm sorry, but I can't choose just one: THE CABIN IN THE WOODS, THE MIST, THE NEON DEMON, THE POUGHKEEPSIE TAPES, THE RING and THE VVITCH (9/10).
For me, it's 28 Days Later by Danny Boyle
8/10.

i completely agree on:
the mist
cabin in the woods
ring (US)
and most of all: the poughkeepsie tapes. i am kinda surprised it is even mentioned, since barely anybody has ever heard of the film.
