SOLVED: WWII UFO adventure comedy

I have never seen this movie but I read about it in a blog (I cannot locate); Takes place during World War 2, a platoon of soldiers discover a landed UFO and investigate it. I think it ends with them leaving the UFO before it takes off. The production year was somewhere in the late 70's or early 80's. Pretty sure it's considered a comedic sci-fi adventure movie. Anyone know the name I would appreciate it!
