Good point. They would have made contestants sign all sorts of legal waivers.
However, a legal document can be voided in court if it violates the law. They could claim sexual harassment. Sexual harassment is prosecutable even if a business has rules which make it "okay".

What killed Allen was his perfectly ethical affair with an adult woman Soon-Yi who was Farrow's step daughter. There was pedo hysteria going on at the time and Farrow exploited that to ruin his reputation.
