Story and substance have been replaced with CGI and agenda.
Never trust a film critic.
Having said that, it would be interesting to see what Mark Kermode says about the film.
He was left with no choice. He asked many people to write and direct. Ron Howard, Steven Spielberg any many others, but they all said no. He even asked Irvin Kershner to come back. And the answer was no.
Screenrant haven't done their research.

It definitely stands on it's own. It's an incredible achievement for a superhero film. Not only because of the film itself, which in my view, is a masterpiece, but also of the happenings before and after the release of the film.
The internet has made a lot of things easier, for instance, purchasing stuff online and internet banking. I can't live without those. However, the internet has been a disaster for films.
Everything is available online to watch, without leaving your home, and even movies about to be released, there's so many sneak peeks, even spoilers, leaks...
The internet is great, but it's impact on the movie industry has changed it for the worse.
98 is a good age. His films and contributions to the film industry brought so much joy.
