Very good

Have heard so much about this, and finally seeing it, it was really worth it. The one that started it all.

There's so much to like. The tension, the silent moments, the destruction, the practical effects. Buildings, getting crushed, and destroyed was absolutely beautiful to see, especially with 1954 practical effects. You can see the enormous amount of effort they put in, and they did a fabulous job.

The acting was good.

Being a black and white film also helps.
