She sounds like she looks

I heard her on NPR yesterday, and I have all the respect and admiration for her, but I was surprised how low and raspy her voice is, and how plain-spoken. She sounds like some semi-literate Jersey girl. I'm glad she's had success, and her music seems reflected in her voice and persona, one tough and unpretentious chick.
