Films You Learned Most From

It could be actual knowledge, or expanding your movie horizons. It doesn't have to be a great film, but one you learned most from. It could lousy.. And of course this depends on what you think is important. I'll think of one later, I wanted to put this out there before I forgot.

The L-Shaped Room is the first that comes to mind. It starts as a story about an unmarried pregnant young woman looking for somewhere to live - which at the time it was made would have been a controversial, or perhaps just modern, subject.
It's probably not that significant a film but when I saw it on TV as a young teenager it had an impact.
If any one is interested the book (same name by Lynn Reid Banks) is good as well and there are two sequels if you want to find out what happened next.

I saw this a long time ago. But I think I remember the old woman at the end saying how her "friend" was more than that (lover), and then says, "It takes all kinds" by the fireplace. I found it to be a touching scene between the young and the old.

I'd forgotten that. Probably wouldn't have understood it when I first saw the film.

I'm sure they were trying to be as coy as possible to avoid controversy.
