Over the past few years I've been enjoying new films and TV shows less and less. Sometimes I'm convinced that the quality has dropped massively since Covid. But then I see excellent reviews and high ratings for productions that bored me and think that perhaps it's me that's changed. Stockholm syndrome isn't real. Regarding Rosico, she should have been charged. Also, several women in Epstein's employ, possibly including Virginia Giuffre, should have been investigated on the grounds of grooming too. I honestly think that if these people had been male they would have been charged and convicted. "Actually they only delivered the plans on how to build them, not the helmets." Is that actually shown or explained? I've watched the first two episodes and I won't continue. It's not scary at all. The editing and camera work are awful and keep taking me out of the show. It seems like they've taken every cheesy, overworked horror trope and stuffed them into one show. Interesting. I've always thought IV and Physical Graffiti were better. Yes they look more like mid-50s to me, albeit in good shape. I suspect though that men prefer male leads and women will happily watch both. The converse isn't true. Male movie stars are generally bigger draws than female ones. I don't think it comes down to social reasons either but is something in our nature. What's changed is that women are now very often leads in genres that were traditionally more attractive to men. It would be interesting to see if this harms their popularity. But the kidnapper didn't know it was a child before taking the job. They made that very clear. Also, she had a child that she loved. She was the one sympathetic character, and the bloodthirsty vampire became a lot less bloodthirsty when it came to her. ??? £1m = $1.27m Captain Beefheart + Captain Hornblower Perhaps I should have gone with "Captain HornHeart", but I thought this was more fun. Depends on the jail! If it's a minimum-security Norwegian prison, I'd do a few years then retire. If it's a violent US supermax or a developing world shithole, no. Your average UK prison? Yes, I'd probably do a year. There are torrents around if that's your bag. "How dare adults find other adults attractive!" You're hysterical. I'll say this: the "magical child" trope in fantasy, horror and sci-fi has largely become the "magical girl" trope. You might have a point. The only two characters who do anything good or selfless are female. They're also the only two to survive. I think we get hyper-critical of celebrities' looks because we end up staring at them in close-up for hours, and there's no physical component to add context. Attraction isn't purely visual and meeting someone in the flesh is very different. I suspect almost all of the people mentioned would stand out in a crowd. OK, to actually answer the question, I'm going to be controversial: Ana de Armas. Obvious she's pretty, but I can't understand why people laud her as a great beauty. Her face is top-heavy and it just gives up below her mouth. Margot Robbie's in the same category: attractive but not deserving of drooling adulation. But then again, I find Kristen Stewart, Florence Pugh and Cara Delevingne attractive, so what do I know? Presumably the helmets were made by the sophons, but if they were, why can't the sophons also just kill off humanity now, and not have to worry about humanity catching up with them technologically? But of course, the aliens have a plan, and it involves some of the characters... rolls eyes Down to 68%/65%, critics/audience. For me, it's more of a 60%. It's just too childish for a horror movie, not to mention clichéd and unoriginal. Fine for a hungover rainy afternoon, I suppose. Personally, I hate how the laughter track seems to have migrated into podcasts. So Conan's pod has a woman who laughs breathlessly at his every joke like it's the funniest thing she's ever heard, and Behind the Bastards has a producer who's always giggling away and saying, "That's, like, so funny!", even when it isn't. It's incredibly annoying and ruins the podcasts to a large degree. I don't think the reason is given.
