I've been told the same thing to go and accept it but I am so full of hate since they didn't cast a real Puertorrican as Maria with Spielberg's excuse that she had all the qualities and they aren't necessarily casting actual Puertorricans for the main Shark roles!
I won't give this a chance even when they're announcing more cast members!
I kinda mentally replaced Watson with Rossum! She would have looked more gorgeous in the yellow gown done to accentuate her beauty like that pink Masquerade gown in Phantom instead of the prom dress Emma Watson suggested!

I am against this remake as well because they promised to represent Puertorrican as accurately than the 1961 version but instead they cast Americans in the leading roles of Maria and Anita which is another step backwards when there should have been progress! So to the producers, aren't native Puertorricans meeting the required qualities for these roles?? There were plenty of them from the Music Conservatory of PR who could have done these characters justice with their experience!
Hyperbaloney!!! While I still have fondness for the original after making me cry as a kid, the DTV prequels aren't doing any justice at all more like retconning the canon!
