What Unsung is really about...

Let's be honest here, unsung is REALLY about black artists that never crossed over to white mainstream. The Whispers are not Unsung in the black community. We know who the whispers are. Outside a few exceptions white entertainment media, and white general audiences is probably unfamiliar. Unfortunately, blacks think that if you're not as big as Janet, Michael, Whitney, Earth Wind & Fire,or the Isley's you never made it. Or at least not made it far enough into the white mainstream. Cause the grass is always greener on the other side.

That does seem to be the case....no way In hell are Rick James, Teena Marie, The Spinners, etc. truly "Unsung". Come on now!!

The Spinners were known all around the world so don't know how they'd be considered 'Unsung'.

There are a few common themes on Unsung. The music business stinks. And drugs are bad poop.

If that is the case then Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam aren't really Unsung, they've had a few Pop hits, and Klymaxx crossed over with "I miss You" and well as Atlantic Starr with "Always". I'm sure these songs are on many compilation albums that White mainstream have bought. Now Melba Moore, she is Unsung.

A lot of the rap groups are kinda unsung tho. Hip-hop fans treat their legends badly imo.
