That's a pretty terrible recasting. Florence Pugh as Rachel works, and John Boyega could pull off Ross' character, but the other four aren't remotely close.

Three black guys and three trans women.

Maybe 1 black male 1 Hispanic male 1 White (gay) male
1 Asian (bisexual) Female 1 Indian Female 1 Trans Woman

If you think the late 1990s and early 2000s are not the "modern era", you must be twelve.

No I'm just going by the article which seems to suggest that modern is defined as diverse and inclusive. So not just 6 white straight people. Usually though when they try to remake a classic show like Friends they muck it up by pushing agendas instead of just being funny.

I've been wondering why Friends has come under so much scrutiny lately for having an all white cast. I mean, what is it about this show that's upsetting people so much? It was a pretty harmless show.

Wow at how terrible these replacements are. That list made me think I was reading an article from the Onion.

Agreed. Horrible choices. C'mon two blacks and a fat girl? No one would produce it because they'd know it would be a flop.

I get that they need at least one black. But it's supposed to be about the white 20-somethings experience. And yeah, that usually includes a black hanger-on. Fine.

But the characters need to be likable and I don't like any of them.
