shareThe obvious reason they complain is because traditionally white characters are made black at whim whereas traditionally black characters would never even be considered made white. For instance, it's perfectly okay to Left-wingers to make Johnny Storm black, but making Luke Cage white would inspire outrage and "protestors" (aka thugs) would of course burn down whole blocks of cities, destroying black businesses and even murdering innocent citizens. It's so absurd and such a glaring double standard.
That said, there are certain roles that could fit more than one race, like the Kingpin, which was interpreted excellently by Michael Clarke Duncan. But I can't see Shaft being played by anyone but a black person.

Interestingly, calling races "minorities" doesn't work anymore in our increasingly global society. For instance, blacks may be minorities in North American countries, but not in most African nations; and that's only if you don't count Caribbean countries, like Haiti and Jamaica. Asians may be minorities in the UK and Sweden, but not in China, Japan or Southeast Asia. Hispanics may still be minorities in USA, but not in Latin America.
Of course Caucasians are the minorities in all the latter places. In fact, Caucasians are a minority on Earth, representing only like 8-10% of Earth's population.
So the concept of "minorities" only works if you're talking about a particular country-as-a-whole. And I'm sure that doing so could be construed as "racist" these days.
