What's you favourite role and movies of William Dafoe?

Mmm probably Spider-Man Green Goblin for me.... not to mention I quite liked him in the last temptation of Christ. I thought he played a great Jesus.
Anyone else?

A few actors make every movie - even when the movie itself is total crap - watchable by their presence alone. William Defoe is definitely one of these actors.
Favorite one? Maybe Mississippi Burning...

He was great as the Green Goblin but for me he’ll always be the doomed Sgt. Elias in Platoon

Elias was not cool with rape, his alcohol and weed intake was a bit too much, he didn’t care for burning down villages and he could throw a solid punch…that Elias was a man!

My choice as well.

Mississippi Burning was the most surprising Dafoe role for me.

Dafoe has earned a rep as a good villain starting with his first major role in Streets of Fire.

In Mississippi Burning he actually plays the quiet, reasonable FBI agent to Gene Hackman's incendiary grab-'em-by-the-balls (literally) angry partner.

Streets of Fire rocks! ✌

Clear and Present Danger

American Psycho, which I watched while growing up.

Wild At Heart, Bobby Peru

Light Sleeper
Live and Die in LA
Platoon

Didn’t we just answer this question a few wks ago.

reply

Not quite.
That was first role you saw him in.

Forgot. Anybody see Light Sleeper. There’s a top 20 list of Dafoe’s movies in The Guardian and Light Sleeper is no. 1. This was one of his best and Sarandon’s. It completed the trilogy: Taxi Driver, American Gigolo and Light Sleeper.

reply

Wild At Heart, Bobby Peru.

Honorable mention for Mississippi Burning as Ward.
