Bye, bye Rotten Tomatoes...

Rotten Tomatoes as we know it is soon going to end. In the past couple of weeks Fandango (which owns RT) has taken a few aggressive steps to phase out critics' reviews. Initially they tried to have numerous ads and info before showing critics reviews but after strong pushback have added the Critics' Consensus bar up top on every movie's page. However this is only likely to be temporary. 😞
When you Google any movie now, the RT score displayed is the audience score. It seems that the "Tomatometer" score we've been accustomed to is no longer going to be the critics score. 😞

I can say with 100% certainty that RT wants to phase out critics' reviews. Wish there was something we could do about it. 🙄

Good riddance. They proved they can't be trusted when Captain Marvel came out, so they deserve anything they get when it comes to ad revenue or people not relying on them as much.

I used to post at RT in 2004 as BKB111 and at the time, I had predicted ALIEN vs PREDATOR to gross 250-300 Million Domestically and stuck to my ground on it no matter how much I was heckled for it and now, 20 Years later, I look back on it and think to myself, what was I thinking with a prediction like that and it just seemed like you took 2 franchise monsters and through "VS" into it and it should've been box office gold, but only made just over 100 Million Domestically I think??

I remember when they started the idea of aggregated critics' reviews, and just like any other critics reviews, I agreed with some. Then time went by and Chinese money began to take over Hollywood, and the "RT Scores" became more and more predictable depending on the movie studio(s).

Now I've found that if the RT score is low and audience score is high, my odds of enjoying the movie are much higher. So c'est la vie.

IMDb is a whole different story. I've never trusted their scores.

IMDB scores are largely the same as other TV/film review sites: Serializd, Trakt.tv, Simkl etc.
