The simple point is that college football and basketball are hugely popular here unlike college sports anywhere else. There are 10-11 college football stadiums that are larger than Wembley in London and they are full every game that is played there. Casting must have been done based on people believing Stanwyk was at least a decade younger than her age. She is also 6 years older than Bert Lancaster which makes their relationship a bit atypical. Are you dense? Rudy graduated with a degree from Notre Dame!!!!! So he was obviously wrong! You are wrong. Destroying the goals and dreams of young people is evil! He should be encouraging every kid he encounters to reach their potential. I'll give my 2 cents. College football is unique. As far as I know there is nothing quite like it in Europe or the UK. That a sport featuring non professionals(That has changed some.) would be so popular. But college football was around a long time before pro football and has an incredible tradition that is not equaled. There are 8 college stadiums with over 100,000 seats and not one that big for a pro team. Those stadiums are packed for every game. The Notre Dame stadium holds 82,000. While most American football fans have 2 favorite teams a fav NFL team and a fav college team there are still some fans who are fanatical about a college team and care little about the NFL. College basketball is also hugely popular so i would say that is the biggest difference between here and over there. That 2 non professional college sports are so popular and so important to so many and this film is about that. He graduated from Notre Dame! How was that asshole teacher right about anything? He was wrong wasn't he? Because Rudy DID attend and graduate from ND. The teacher was a dick but his role is important. There was a social stratification and working class people like Rudy were not supposed to be Notre dame material. That is why Rudy is important and this film is important. He broke through that barrier! What teacher is supposed to tamp down a kid's dream? It was appalling. Good point. No comparison. This was a real case and a real murder. FGM is just made up nonsense.
