WoW this woman was put in a impossible position. As an aspiring actress having to sleep with that dirty old man Hempf just to continue her passion and talent is already sucking life out of your soul! As portrayed in pill addiction! But what Stasi did on top is unimaginable just because her Director/BF is Doing a Little Something. JUST an Article. Ratting out like school kids in no real need is no comparison to Stasi Jail. The desperation on her face is well acted 'to get'. We don't know how many hours she refused a testimony. Maybe 48 already. Dreyman mentioned she is gone unknown for days shortly before returning. Beginning of movie is explained how they psychological break people to gain the information they want when first refusing. The surrogate interviews are really clever build up. Anyone would have. And that was actual real life. No fiction. Most all had IM status. Everyone spying on everyone. Some took it more serious than others of course, just wanting out of jail in the first place! That was the real terror. Friends, colleagues, neighbors no-one can be trusted with thoughts. Most important for police is always to find the actual weapon. Without it making each case severely weaker. It is like that technically legally. Accept it! OJs alleged glove didn't fit his hand. Of course hands can swell with fly stitches (/artificial injections), working out with Hand-Trainers e.g..... but the bloody gloves didn't fit. Soo... As long as they don't find the unregistered typewriter matching article letters font found in his (hidden) possession there is to weak proof for a real court case. It's just Words by another Person with no real proof. Accusation vs Accusation. He is a public person. Not just in DDR but at very least of significance in BRD, latest by his article. This makes him a 100% Proof-Case or 0 not at all. Of course Stasi would have kept on surveilling him for the rest of his life if the Wall hadn't come down short after. You should have a real deep thought what Wiesler did.... for approx 20 yrs! Even if you have zero knowledge what everyday life in DDR meant it's clearly shown in first few minutes. Wiesler was one of worst. HE training new recruits even dirty tricks of psychology torture. They threw innocent ppl in jail for years, ruined careers of family e.g. just for not praising Socialism and staying submissive to a small Socialist Clique benefitting! That art couple gave him for the first time in life an escapism in his grey, dull life! Usually this happens at the age of 8-12 with music, foremost later movies, books, theater! World Art was banned in DDR! It was not portrayed full front on like Black Swan but you get the drift on a 1.5 million budget! Weasel Wiesler only belonged in their own Stasi Jail holes! Not to be compared with G7 luxury jails including Gyms, Courts, TVs, PlayStations, Libraries & Co.! For Wiesler to gain a minimum of sympathy he shall have died in a scenario saving the Actress, who was the biggest victim! He didn't even deserve that dedication. It was most stupid scene ruining movie Dreyman meeting positively Former Culture Minister just to finally get he was observed for years prior the 2 raids! Like WTF! Hence his adored Actress Girlfriend plus Mentor Friend committing suicide due to these Socialist Career Assholes! If Dreyman didn't even got that after years, impossible he knew the real circumstances/intentions of the ppl surveilling him. It could only be hourly and they were not present when certain sentences got exchanged. Fallen asleep more than once in this dull concentrating. Just despise on a personal level at his (new) Supervisor to not even get the next unjustified promotion. Nothing is known to Dreyman why he wasn't fully exposed. It could have been just lucky circumstances zero to do with him actually. But he clearly knows these guys robbed him plus the world of his 2 most precious people in life. So the dedication stinks ass. 🦨 It's a daring story that needs to be told! 90% Hollyweird movies are all the same. A regular guy gets in a situation fights a thousand bad guys and therefore automatically gets the prettiest woman of the country. *yaaaaawn* It's a shame how much DDR injustice got swept under the rug. Honecker was granted Luxury Asyl in Chile, and that's it. The terror which was inflicted on 20 million 'regular dudes' was real life! The movie is grey, dull and depressing as it should! You don't need to be German to take a good look. Socialist Propaganda is on the rise everywhere... all while Socialist States are pure hell holes! Without an exception! Last but not least: Utter remarkable for a young film-makers first project on a 1.5 million budget. Only similar achievement: Blair Witch Project. And this topic to see the light you have no idea how many obstacles from government. So if you wanna watch Spiderman or Transformers go ahead and do so. But movies like that are way more satisfying and necessary for real brains! Of course you shall be in the mood for and not on Spaghetti In House Date Night with a new Romance. Romantic Comedies are a thing as well as Political Thrillers/Historic Dramas without a million gun shot chases. Pathetic actually. Very subliminal. Very artsy. A low budget film has it's limits. Plus it's a fictional story. Contrary no Socialist (SED nor Stasi) real life case is known. You know afterwards ppl wanna be the celebrated media heroes. Yet silence. Look at today's Left-Wing Brood, it's the worst doctrine. PPL running ahead for that ideology have no righteous life, no sense for common normalcy nor justice. Very own gain is all. Even Wiesner is on the low-key pissed his old mate he backpacked throu study grades got promoted ahead of him. Weasel Wiesner should have died instead the poor Actress being worst off of all. I found it hard to believe as well with the introduction of the movie and how he wrecked innocent ppl lives for approx. 20 years! Encounter with a young boy in an elevator where multiple Stasi Agents lived as the prostitute revealed. And citizens around are so aware openly talking about them that even kids repeat. Using kids to expose parents was a well known basic tactic he also had to teach new recruits. And since parents knew they were very cautious with their kids. This scene would have never happened in 80ies, maybe 60ies! The art talk wasn't all that. I was expecting way different for such a dramatic change of mind-set. He got insight on true love in mid mid-/late 40ies. Yes but I'm sure they had not just preferred access on prostitutes but first and foremost fitting women for marriage. After all no woman seeks a career in prostitution but wanting to have a good status man and family. Portraying these dudes as single meaning woman opposite also staying single. Not accurate in 80ies, esp socialist countries! This society trend just started earliest in 90ies with ppl having way to high expectations on media stars. And then Internet searching forever for Miss Perfect. The only 'plot hole' was the weird scene of Minister Hempf in a German theater after Unification. Yes sadly it was like that: basically no-one paid for their terrorizing and destroying thousands of innocent citizens. Not even Honecker! But the convo was so weird Dreyman initiating as if they were positive friends despite him being responsible for his real good friend/artistic hero committing suicide! Plus forcing his girlfriend to fuck him for her on-going career. Ultimately her death as well; putting her in a shameful position she can no longer enjoy life. Surely, IF... there would have been negative accusations and he is no more welcome to his theater productions! But just asking why he was never observed is DULL! After Stasi physically searched his appartment in his presence it should have dawned him he got surveilled for weeks, possibly months ahead of this raid! But TWICE plus his girlfriend (he adored so much!) rather dying in shame after she had to confess the secret typewriter! Sure he had no insights what all was specifically going on... but after these massive Incidents how could he even ask him that ridiculous question? And was he really expecting a honest answer? Least I had expected! It wasn't even protecting cover for pokering knowledge out of the former minister. He was really truly surprised! Like WTF?!! ABSOLUTELY should have dedicated his book to his girlfriend and not a total unknown Stasi Officer, having no idea how much he really hid on purpose. He could have been only partially surveillanced or way more than 2 dudes put up on him not really connecting the dots of art talk. Or falling asleep more than once in hours of such boredom! While his girlfriend paid the ultimate price for just pursuing the art of acting in a shit-ass Patriarchat, Socialist on top! All these Stasi dudes were well off. Even working as mailman afterwards sniffing their nose further on in other ppl private business! Wiesner was not a good man. Weasel pun intended. Just seen the movie first time. Movie sure got it's weaknesses for usual light evening entertainment but the questions you post the movie answers itself just by watching once with attention! Also other posters explained already. Besides I also take a movie for what it is. A story needs to be told. The point of the movie came across. Dull grey Socialist Terror State which tolerates no other opinion than Left-Wing Propaganda! The young filmmaker came fresh off University and had a budget of 1.5 million. That is NOTHING! He won established actors for that movie project, who were willing to take on these roles for much less than their market price. Because they felt it was important that this movie sees the light of day and general audience gets some education on this swept-under-rug historical topic! The only other movie under such circumstances to slightly compare is "Blair Witch Project"! This is as raw as it gets! Bigger accolades than 90% Hollyweird rubbish on 100+ million budgets and marketing behind for artificial success! I didn't like the end much as Wiesler never came across likeable. He is a ass-kissing slime-ball weak type of male I loathe to death! His change is not relatable just listening to a couple everyday chatter after all these years doing way worse things like seen in the beginning. Constantly throwing ppl in jail, breaking ppl souls merciless interviews just for having a different opinion or making one jokes on a socialist leader. Yes I know that particular case was his Supervisor. But him as well would have acted so on streets. It was well portrayed he was the force on Stasi career when they were younger recruits. Charmers and Good-Lookers climb ranks. And Wiesler had zero. LMAO you def need a lesson in hierarchy! No-one follows 1000s of personal wishes of personal beliefs of 25.000 little service woman as billionaire CEO. How many people worked on that film? And just as much personal opinions! There was nada about such a line. I would say it myself for just a cent! It's a pure small talk line to be aware of weirdo freaks. In normal times before every odd one out thinks he's the Common King and the world revolves around him! The smallest minority of Trannies are highly agressive in appearance and shoving their beliefs onto everyone else. That's why I personally dislike them. There is zero decency towards them. I don't like ppl like that no matter whom they share their own personal bed with! I couldn't care less. No normal woman including Rosie O'Donnell would overdress in Pervert High Heels and Titty/Ass Silicone like that. If they want to be a woman wear female Sneakers and Yoga Pants instead of that Tranny Leather Latex Darkroom Crap! It's a Travesty in the Name of Women what these oversexualized Males do - PUBLICALLY! The day they demand to enter female rest-rooms is the day when normal Lesbians like me have zero tolerance! No law can make me clap for that addtl thread towards real women! And for whatever many reasons most ppl rather distance from that folk. Yes somewhat the movie isn't build up right. It's unrelateable. Her actions are not wise. Walter was the way better man. Victoria got treated horrible and she was def. not! Main problem however are a) that horrid nasty Trash Millenial Jonah and b) his father letting him be so spoiled antiauthorian! They are not likeable and the antagonists of the movie! In Annie's shoes it's like she has a 13 yrs old Boyband crush. They portray mid 30 yrs old women like if they hadn't prior love life experience with good for nothing men. Labeled desperate to marry over 40 but then throwing a real good man like Walter away for a teenage projection of a total unknown male. The movie fits no cliches which we despise so much. But seeing that I rather take the cliche movie. The radio call was in no way portrayed for 2000 women writing an unknown man far away. That kid was highly annoying and self-absorbed from start and it grew ever worse with every second Screen-Time! Frankly no elementary school kid would want any other new woman around. Also esp that age not other sex classmates as his one only friend in 1 1/2 yrs adjusting to a new neighborhood. The babysitter was the icing on top how unsympathetic this Father-Son duo actually is. From all the tales of women in office about their lousy husbands Sam would be the crown. She thinks Walter sounded to old but biblic old-ass names like Samuel and Jonah not?! And she couldn't come up with her very own nick-name? LOUSY back firing she is even lamer with her lame Anne/Annie name! What Annie had to offer but a rather pretty face? Rotten on the inside! Sam's only likeability is due to the situation about his early unexpected loss. That is all about him. The situation. Not him. I didn't see nothing but huge alarm-clocks about him talking utter shit and nonsense, worst with his spoiled brat baggage! Def no rockstar artist aura nor brains/talents! I loathed that brat! The main reason this movie is unrelateable and unlikeable. However a elementary school kid is mainly the more raw, not so much lying reflection of the parents. Plus anti-authorian raising led to the Trash Millennials Catastrophic Society! I would have smacked that kid a dozen times in those 90 minutes. The sex talk was as 🤢🤮 as a mirror reflection as Sam and Jonah are! No babysitter else wanted to put up with... but a gothic psycho freak minding strictly TV for few dollars ignoring the screaming. There were so many aspects why Sam and Jonah were the unlikeable antagonists. A anti feel good movie portraying how bad ppl win in the end in a rotten society now. Walter and Victoria were the way more likeable characters and got screwed over for nothing. For all Annie judged Walter under a microscope, she would have several break downs a day with the Sam & Jonah combo. The situation was utter pathetic when she gave back her engagement ring. She should have met just the spoiled nasty kid acting up again being mean to the other women there without knowing who he was and later finding out when Sam appeared. Backing totally off ending up alone for playing Walter like that like a 13 yrs old admiring far away Boyband Members. The entire idea was crap. What's romantic for 2 strangers standing on top of a windy cold Skyscraper for them to fall head over heels in love?! Even if it was based on a real old movie - like WTF! Also the expectation of Jonah flying there when there was no Rendezvous set up at all. That kid was horrendous to bear. A real pledoyer why kids need to be raised authorian! Trash MiIllenial Overpopulation Scum! 🗑️ 💩 However it was filmed that Jonah went there in the morning and it was not filmed that he just went up with zero wait in line. That's as little the deal as late in the evening when closing hour actually just passed. So of course there was no line anymore. That's the least about the movie that would bug me. Everything was so unrelateable, not likeable and the 2 most normal likeable people got screwed over badly by a rotten spoiled kid and his narcissistic quest of the perfect Dream Mom like ordered from a Marvel Comic Merchandise Section!
