This is really subjective. The word "overrated" itself is "overrated" and overused. Don't get me wrong, I don't to bitch here, I myself overuse it lol.
That beng said, I disagree, but respect your opinion.

I love these kinds of assumptions which are based on nothing and are made simply because something frustrated/shocked you.
I appreciate the answers, but I based it on things I've personally seen. I know that number 3 is not really an issue anymore since the politics board was created. I agree that I should have given examples to my claims, sorry, my bad.
So here I go:
Example for #1: Many Christopher Nolan's movies' board, especially The Dark Knight Rises', have many posts from users who love the movie calling names those who don't like it and say some pretentious stuff like claiming "they are not smart enough to understand the movie and this is why they don't like it".
Example for #2: The latest case I came upon was on the Monty Python's Life of Brian's board: there were christians and atheists arguing with each others and honestly.... they were just repeating themselves and there was absolutely not point to argue since obviously they were not able to meet any kind of agreement.
As for number 3.... as I said.... I agree I'm a bit too late on that one lol.

I respect your opinion, but this is subjective. I consider it a masterpiece. Of course you could argue that some movies are widely considered as masterpieces by the masses (critics and people in general), and that there is some objectivity in it. However, what someone considers a "masterpiece " will not necessarily be considered as such by someone else.

Hahaha I always thought the same thing. Actually, my mother heard the score and she thought it was beautiful. She asked me where it came from, I simply answered: "A movie you most definitely don't want to see!"

Like I said on another post: it is definitely not for everybody. For me the appeal is that the movie actually has something to say and it VERY well made. But it is also unpleasant, vile and gore in a "trashy" way. Some people don't see past that, and I don't blae them. But for me, it is a really progressive movie.
Nice! I watched it with my girlfriend as well. She said it's a good and innovative movie, but she wouldn't watch it again lol. It's like Requiem for a Dream: most people I know thought it was excellent... but they wouldn't watch it again because it is SO depressing lol.
I can't imagine a more spot on answer!
To each its own. In fact, most people I know agree with you. I don't. I freaking love this movie. It's not a "pleasant" watch, and is not meant to be. But the message, the visual effects, the cinematography, how innovative it is all definitely compensate for the lack of entertainment for me. But it is definitely not a movie made for everybody. However, I wouldn't go as far as saying that it "sucks". I personally don't like Forrest Gump, but by no mean the movie "sucks".
Even though I get why some people would be upset about it, I don't think this should be a reason to judge people who don't share this opinion. I personally don't enjoy the fact that we see real animal killings per say, it still doesn't stop me from enjoying the movie. Plus, the fact that he the animals were eaten by the crew kinda make it less bad.
And how then call the movie "trash" or "crap" in a condensed way just because you didn't enjoy the movie is not really fair. The movie is technically revolutionary in its way.
