There didn't seem to be very much hype or anticipation for this from what I remember. The theater I saw it in with my friend was virtually empty. Although it was a solid fim, and Stallone played a different kinda character than the usual musclebound hero type. He also got to show off his acting chops along side some great actors like Keitel, Liotta, Deniro, and Patrick. All that being said it still pulled in $60 million on a $15 million dollar budget Normally he's claims to weigh around 170-180. I remember an interview years ago where he said he put on over 30lbs for this She's a talentless bitch who dresses like a clown and what is with her fake ghetto accent? This bitch needs to stop talking politics to, because she sounds like a fucking imbecile. She needs to just stick to getting high as a kite, and dipping her head in battery acid. She's Ashkenazi jewish. ALmost half of the Israeli population is made up of Ashkenazi jews, which are of european descent. In other words she is white It makes the T-800's sacrifice seem pointless. He should have stuck around for a while because obviously John wasn't in the clear yet He seemed pretty competent during the 1st debate. It almost sounded like " Yea like she said " He pretty much played a watered down Mr Strickland in this. Strickland scared me, but Thorn didn't I wear a mask when I go to the grocery store, malls, and other stores because where I live you can't shop without one. I'm pretty sure in most of America the same rule applies Why do people think Johnny never continued training after Cobra Kai? He told Kreese that he didn't teach him everything he knows before they fought. Johnny is 50ish now. He probably trained another decade or 2 after high school. He is about equally matched with Kreese as well as Daniel Yea no joke. The few smiles he made in the movie seemed very forced He looks considerably shorter to. He was clearly taller than Johnny in the 1st movie, and now they are pretty much the same height no surprise there Agrred. I just watched the first two movies again. He's trying way too hard in the trailers The problem I have with Cruise is the fact I find it hard to separate the actor from the character. He is basically just like George Clooney since they pretty much play the same narcissistic, playboy, douchebag types in every role. Clooney is absolutely insufferable with his politics and virtue signaling, where Cruise isn't into politics, but his psuedo spiritual Scientology garbage make him absolutely unbearable, in addition to his very limited acting range A very substantial chunk of it was shit Nothing has every been proven. There was something about the whole film that was off. They wanted to recapture the magic of the first 3 so bad, but ultimately crashed and burned by trying to be too ambitious. That is what felt off about it to me. It's almost like getting together with some old friends, and going out to do all the things you loved doing together so much, but years have passed, everyone's lives have changed, and the whole thing feels focred and unnatural. It was an ok film, and I wasn't bored watching it, some very good action scenes, and Harrrison Ford delivered. There was a tad of magic in the scenes with him and Karen Allen. I pretty much agree with everything on your list here that held this back from greatness, but ultimately it just couldn't recapture the magic of the original 3. That was it's biggest problem. I definitely agree not bringing Sean Connery was a terrible idea. I never knew he was down to return. Not bringing him back was a bad move to say the least. I say they were being cheap. Paramount is willing to spend over $100 million to make a movie, but didn't wanna pay Connery what he wanted was probably the case here. Having Connery in this would have brought back more of that magic to. You made a very good point about the main characters, especially the antagonists. This movie suffered from weak antagonists. In previous Indy films you have the main villian who is driven, calculated, and challenges Indy on an intellectual level, and you have right hand man who is a scary, intimidating, monster. In the case of Temple of doom Mola Rom was just a scary and intimidating as his monstrous right hand man. In Raider's Beloq was every bit Indy's inellectual equal, and the right hand man Todt was creepy as hell. In Crusade Donavan played the role of the intellectual, and the nazi commander Vogel played the role of the intimidating right hand man. In Krystal you get silly and foolish Col Spalko, and a Russian commander by her side who came off as just a generic big and mean brute Ultimately it was Deputy Gerard who brought Kimble in, and not Chicago PD. Kelly didn't seem to like Gerard very much since he had no power or authority over him. I know Kelly didn't make the deal with Gerard to give him scotch, but what were the chances of him approaching Gerard with the scotch and congratulating him. Basically saying (Good job! This is the deal I made with my officers. Enjoy!) Probably slim to none. Kelly most likely went home that night, drank the whole bottle, and said fuck that Gerard asshole!
