I wonder if he's still a fan of Putin? I always marveled how he managed to do that backflip in Last Tango, he had some good core muscles there! Did you see that neck? Propably HGH. The only Mel Brooks film i kinda liked was Dracula, and i consider Naked Gun and Airplane! my favourite spoofs. Mel Brooks himself is funny performer but his films as a whole, not so much. Maybe just bits and pieces like the horses whinnig gag in Young Frankenstein and Jesus in HOTW. Dark Fate flopping must have made some impact in his career choises. What happened to that western series they pitched for Amazon? Agreed, New Line did a dirty trick trying to get Roman Polanski to direct behind Stanleys back. Maybe they sensed he was too green for such high budget production? Anyways, Frankenheimer was a seasoned pro who was hired to salvage the production for better or worse, Vals protest do not paint a very professional picture about his work ethic... Kilmer acting like a spoilt brat during filming while Frankenheimer tries to not kick his ass in front of hairy cat people. The song is by Peter Gabriel, who also composed The Last Temptation of Christ. One of the best film scores ever made. The editing is all over the place in this scene. I also hate that choppy slow motion, which plagues lots of films that were made around 2000-2009. Oliver Stone's genius writing elevated the script from being a True Romance part 2 to a social satire/fever dream of the MTV culture. Some people have hard time to sit down and take the film at face value, but it really is pure genius and is still remembered for being uncompromising and shocking. I would say Body of Lies is one the most forgettable films to have A list actors in it. I agree mostly but there is still stuff like Max Von Sydow's character, awesome actor RIP. The score is a mixed bag but works in key dramatic moments, the end credits montage is nice. Crowe and Blanchett had good chemistry but both were too old for their roles. Its one of those films that you find dirt cheap in the bottom of a DVD bin along with Casino Royale. It lacks the visual prowess of Ridley Scotts other works, has somewhat More "hbo tv movie" look. The extended cut is also better. I've noticed it too especially in Casino, some scenes look like his face is stretched sideways. I always had problem with the .45 Longslide sound effect, sounded better on my vhs that was recorded from tv in the 80's This guy has had pretty weird career span. After Greystoke, he was hailed as a sort of great method actor. When Highlander started pre-production, he was considered the biggest european star at the time, boosting the films budget considerably. His biggest moment as an star actor might have been The Sicilian, but that film had some trouble during release, and pretty much no one saw it. After that he still managed to star along good actors like Ed Harris, Tim Roth, James Caan, John Lone, but he standed out like a sore thumb because of his strangely bad acting skills. Sure its cheesy but If you take it for what it is, it is still a damn well made film! Propably due to Joel Silver producing. The story is simple and acting is pretty good too. Sam Elliott is also just too handsome, cant get over it. Watching it right now and i think it just might be a masterpiece. Well i do enjoyed Harley Davidson & Marlboro Man and that one has a legendary dumb film status. T2 all the way, it revolutionized the action movie genre. True Lies is just as "fantastical" film, with a third act being another film by itself. Its proving more and more difficult for him to be constantly upping his game if you look his filmography; more high-tech, bigger budgets and now better box office business than Avatar, he has dug himself in a hole.
