9 True, I just liked it...I was bored and buzzed in the wee hours last night looking up stuff The Terminator (1984) : https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=db7r6n0P02I Since it’s been on like every day for the past week it seems... Almost Famous (2000): https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=QHH3FoJUEbg Kate Hudson, though only briefly, so adorable in this scene.... Can’t sleep...it’s only 10 before 3am here on the left coast...hahaha....cheers...can’t go to sleep until the red wine is gone Oh man, Eastbound....it’s been so long, might have to revisit that show., I don’t think I ever finished all the seasons...”you’re fucking out!”...lmfao.... I’m not totally sure, but I’m thinking Michael was throwing his bros a bone...I was reading up and found the Wikipedia entry for the tour and it’s quite an interesting read : https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Victory_Tour_(The_Jacksons_tour) Sounds like despite the earlier success of the Jackson 5 and the more recent few albums from Jermaine’s solo career, the brothers outside of Michael didn’t make nearly the cash that Michael did with the explosion of the thriller album...maybe daddy joe, who still had some sway over Michael, convinced him to help his brothers secure a big and lasting payday...just speculation on my part, but I think this is the start of when Michael became more distant from his brothers for whatever reason — some professional and some personal — and sometimes would refuse to rehearse certain arrangements in preparation for the tour....still, the tour, even with some show cancellations, was somewhat successful with help from none other than boxing promoter Don King and the son of the then-New England Patriots owner.....despite that, the team ended up being sold to recoup losses incurred as a result of some financial difficulties with the tour,; mainly, a ticket fiasco that turned into a PR nightmare and some badly negotiated and miscalculated guarantees made by the son of the Patriot’s owner...I was just a kid and it’s been so long, I kinda forgot all the details regarding the victory tour...good stuff from the Wiki entry, good read... I was surprised when Mad Men essentially became my favorite show...WASPy, misogynistic, boorish New York ad men from the sixties didn’t appear to be my thing, but the more I watched it, the more I couldn’t look away...character-driven, and despite the habitually loathsome behavior displayed by most of the characters, at times they were so compelling and conflicted that it made for great viewing...admittedly, a slow burn and not necessarily for everyone...and it was before my time, but man, the ‘60s....I suppose it could be argued that no other decade in the 20th century had as big an impact culturally, socially and politically as the 60s....like I said, I wasn’t there, but that decade appeared to change America forever, and force it to face some rather difficult questions for years to come... Man, the wine is talking now....hahaha! Good times! The Rules of Attraction (2002) ... https://vimeo.com/19808924 Ok, it’s late, some wine intake, I went for some 80s cheese, but hey, these young ones were dealing with some serious shyt....and, I just like the song.... https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=W9IjOicxGXg I probably could’ve picked something from TVs Mad Men, but if you don’t watch the show, you might not understand the context.... If I’m invited I’ll do the karaoke version, but a warning, I sound like neither Lou Gramm nor Kelly Hansen...hell, who am I kidding, I’ll be the first to go and you ll need to arrange “Feels Like the First Time” for me... Yes!... you know that you ARE! My contribution today in our quest for 10,000..totally random... https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=e9Lehkou2Do Lol, I know, it’s crazy....but I want this sucker to get to like 10,000 or something....maybe we can get there by Xmas, if covid doesn’t fuck us all.... https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=yd8jh9QYfEs
