Shame this thread has dissolved into petty arguments and finger pointing. It started out as fascinating and thought provoking and I wished it had stayed that way.
I was one of those that originally saw the film at the cinema when it was first released. The tension, suspense, fear and even the eroticism are more amplified when watching it on the big screen and with the exception of the sexuality those other aspects get diminished when watching it on home media. It's unfortunate this brilliant film's 30th anniversary has been mostly overlooked by today's media outlets because it truly deserves more recognition than what it's getting, I even dare say that it's being forgotten..which is a shame.
SaraceanWarriner I've been watching this movie on and off for the past 30 years and always viewed it as an effective psychological thriller, but reading your posts has me rethinking and makes me wonder if the film's director had things in mind that now in turn eroticize the movie more than was was previously thought of.
Wow this thread is a fascinating read. Too bad it stopped dead in it's tracks when IMDB pulled the plug on its discussion boards. It should be resumed.
