Jimmy lost his mother and brother at about the same time. He was hit hard by both. He's never been the same. He was very into his immediate family. They are gone, he is bitter. I've had never seen the series. Now that I've viewed a block, I think I have the hang of watching it. I would say that the endings run about 80-90 % counterintuitive. So whatever the logical last minute should be ...well it isn't going to turn out that way. For example this morning's Ep with Chas Bronson and the exquisite Lola Albright had Lola putting a round into Charles with his own gun. Which was ok except how calm she was thoughout the story it was kind of unfair. But that's the way it goes so that's what I expect now. The Ep's can be quite mean as well. "dont suit her. " ---------------- She's in the news. The NBA is an open relationship league. It cost her HC friend -Celtics- his job (I don't know if she's married to him). In any case she has some stuff going on. The Royals --in the 21st century are about show biz. So much of UK is tourism. They don't have natural resources and industry. They do have a history, finance center and diplomacy. All of which is aided by the tradition of the monarchy. That's it. It's like a long-running play that's comfortable to those who like it and an annoyance to those who do not. Elizabeth was liked and admired. I seriously doubt whether any of the other royals are. Even if some are sincere. My guess would be the royals will be greatly diminished in 25 years or less. Done. It's like saying do you think the Uni-bomber was a PhD student at U.Michigan? Mentally ill can sometimes get through early adulthood and accomplish things, before going off the deep end. You then ask well why didn't anyone notice, why didn't he get help? It happens. Lee harvey Oswald had mental problems but he was a Marine radar tech stationed in Japan as a 20yo. Can't believe she scored a network show. ABC execs must have been drunk... I didn't like any of the characters ...other than Gabe/Kotter. The Washington kid constantly mispronouncing Kotter ( Car-ti-ier) just became too annoying after the first 20 times. The Travolta character was dumb. Really stupid. It shouldn't be surprising he got out as soon as he could. It was a cheap sitcom. Realism was not a priority. Outside of Kaplan, Travolta's popularity and the theme song the show had nothing. If you like a bunch of third-rate actors playing students and mugging for the camera this series was for you. The first post was kind of obsessed by this aspect...but if you don't expect much from a cheaply made sitcom of the 70's it really wasn't that surprising. The characters -other than Kaplan of course- were all pretty annoying in their mannerisms. The constant mugging for the camera ( Horshack, Washington, Epstein) was a turn off. I didn't much like the content. The stars were...STARS. And the ending was excellent.
Yeah it was pretty bad. i was really surprised to see so many positive reviews at IMDB. It didn't help that just about the whole John Ford stock Co. --like John Pennick mugging for the camera in shots-- was in it, most of them awful. They would all be right back at it in "Liberty Valence" the following year Willis Bochey, Andy Devine, John Qualen, Ken Curtis et al). I don't know if it was his fault but the young man returned was really out of control and kind of disturbing. The "Leave it to Beaver" semi-regular David Kent got his fist major part in this and maybe thats why his career stalled. LHO was a radarman. That was his training. Yes he did well on the rifle range but he was not under any pressure and his fellow marines were not overly impressed with his scores: he was ok. But as I said his job was looking at radar screens in Japan. Not shooting M-1's. His rifle used on the day (Italian surplus bolt action)), was not a quality weapon. He was also likely nervous. Oswald had -weeks earlier-- attempted to kill a retired General who was a stationary target in his home. He missed for whatever reason, shooting at night and in through the Gen's window. JFK was likely shot in a cross-fire by professional assassins. There was a would-be attempt on the Pres' life a few weeks before Dallas, in Chicago. There was considerable risk involved. If those two weapons crash into the site and no al-Z there, just a few dead residents, Joe's presidency is for all intents over. It would be beyond ridicule. Somebody gave al-Z up by the way. Maybe the Taliban: just got sick of him who knows? I saw the last Ep. tonight. I'd give it a 9. Very low-keyed. A bunch of regular actors, the old Inspector, Levitt gets promoted to Sgt. Wojo got the most words in during the last three min's. A quiet last scene with only Barney shutting off the squad room lights. Sign saying goodbye from the ole' 1-2. First of all, it is amazing that Joe was in contact with hundreds of people over a 2 year period gets nothing. Remarkable. Then it finally catches up to JB and he gets infected twice in 3 weeks. I haven't got it yet though I don't know for sure? JB is not going to die. However he will announce in Jan. 2024 that he is not running for a second term. K.Harris was ' first out' of the last nomination process. That said a lot. i've been doing a lot of reading about pre-WW2 Germany. So I've been thinking about this film. While it is fiction obviously there is some truth it is based on with real individuals Sally and the York character were based on. NINE SEASONS: just saw it for the first time early one morning. If you worked regularly you should have made a great living on a show nobody seems to have heard of. Especially the "Wings" girl who moved right to that gig when 'Living' finally tapped out. Nine Seasons! Pitt picked a winner. 1.4 sounds high for a film that does not admit kids? Sandra Bullock: i don't get why she's cast. Her personal life ruins things. I suppose you could say similar things about Pitt but he doesn't talk to the press. Actors should keep their private matters to themselves for the sake of their careers. Why not. Don't have to be all wsterns. The ending was a bit weak. Not terrible but could have been better and I'm not just referring to the rifle standoff. Leach taking what appeared to be a gunshot to the abdomen and just walking around? Just not good.
