This movie is a series of scenes that exist only because someone thought they would look "cool". That's why it feels so shallow and meaningless.
Well I have a strange experience with this show. I watched it when it came out, then I started watching it again yesterday. I realized I had already seen it, but remembered nothing about it. I only remembered the characters, none of the events. So I had a moebius strip like relationship with the theme of the show and my own experience watching it again with no memory.
Anyway, I liked the ending when it was all said and done. It is very much against the viewers wishes and not expected. By the time the end (I mean the very end) happens, it is so darkly humorous I can't help but appreciate it.
Did he do what he was trying to do? I think yes.
There were a lot of quirky moments but the breaking of a metal knife in two with bare hands was hilarious lunacy.
There is a second season apparently. The first was a guilty pleasure. I'm gonna check out the second season soon.
Definitely worth seeing on big screen. It really looks great. Solid 7 is about right. Could have been higher with different actors imo.
yeah i dont think many people would argue this movie would have been much better with Bale as the lead. I dont think JDW brought much to the table plus he also didnt have much to work with. Bale or someone of that caliber could maybe have pulled us along emotionally.
I still think it's worth seeing on the big screen as it looks really good. I liked the film but biggest problem clearly was they didnt establish a relationship between the main character and ai child. so all the motivations and ending you just had to accept and didnt feel organic.
Love what you wrote. Great film. It is long but that last shot of onoda on the heli is so powerful.
Just got to this one last night. The Bear's Red Wedding. Holy shit is right.
