Like all movie franchises then? gotcha. absolutely. not all Irishmen and women have a diddly-dee accent! well that depends which version of the play you see.. the 1939 ending or the 1943... 1939 lombard is shot and killed by vera. wargrave appears, explains everything, vera is guilty of murdering the boy, she hangs herself, wargrave shoots himself. 1943 lombard is shot by vera. wargrave appears, explains everything, vera is not guilty of murdering the boy, lombard isnt dead and shoots wargrave. certainly in the book and the 1939 stage play ending (but not the 1943 ending or this adaptation) Wargrave explains how he met a drunk young man on a trans atlantic sea journey who told him all about Vera's crime. FWTW. In case you are anywhere near Bath in a month's time :-) https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/whats-on/bath/rondo-theatre/henry-vi/e-zqyvmv Love the Shakespeare reference! (Im rehearsing for a Henry VI all-three-parts-mash-up at the moment as it is, and Richard III features prominently of course!) Yeah _ Shakespeare['s plots are full of holes, granted! and all because with knowledge of exactly what was on it already, he just casually tossed it into a key bowl, where anybody could just pick it up ( which is of course what happened...). It would just NEVER happen - I just don't buy that. "for the most part the characters are presented as realistic... " That's where I'd have to respectfully disagree. I didn't find vicar and wife to be at all realistic. True I've no experience of locking a woman in my cellar following a misunderstanding, but if i ever did the thought that I would find my wife going along with the situation a total non starter. maybe I'm the only person in the UK that doesn't think this is all "normal" ;-) "The USB contents could have easily been explained away 'it's not mine ; it's not my son's ; I have an oath to keep ; call the cops if you want, and I will explain to them - but not to you". You know - like a normal person." This. 100%. Which of course, not happening, leads not only to the entirely ridiculous cellar thing, but also the other ostensibly sane adult (wife) just accepting the new status quo in their lives. yeah right... The lady doth protest too much, methinks View all replies >
