It was her step-mother. I'm curious, how was Jenny in the books compared to the show? I liked Vanessa and didn't get why she was so hated. I thought this was terrible friend behavior too. Adrianna I could understand to a degree, since she and Naomi were best friends in Season 1. But as you said, Annie was such a good friend to Silver and Silver just dropped her after the prom incident. I honestly feel like Naomi was social capital for Silver and Adrianna in Season 2. They followed her around like groupies.. I noticed that too. I love details like that. I would suggest that you really reflect on your thought process and perception if a predominantly female cast makes a movie political for you. Hah, true. I should have expected that from Reddit especially. Well I am female so I can definitively tell you I would rather be with a Jim than a Roy. I love how someone who looks like Dwight can be so harsh another person's looks. Dwight was also fairly misogynistic. He was hilarious to watch but I don't see how he can be defended as a person. Wow, I loved Darryl. He's hilarious and his reactive expressions are spot on. I didn't like how he was made out to be the bad guy in the apartment situation with Jim. Jim was being sloppy and inconsiderate of the fact they both shared a living space. All Darryl did was point out that Jim used his thermos and Jim reacted so childishly. Jim was never supposed to be an alpha male. "Alpha males" are misogynistic and unnecessarily aggressive due to insecurity. Jim was a good guy. I didn't think it was horrible but there are episodes that are much, much better. It's not a great episode to start with if you've never watched Black Mirror. It was horrifying but it was supposed to be. What were your reasons for thinking it was the worst? What I found implausible was that he would actually go through with it due to fear of his safety. If he gives in to this demand, the kidnapper could have killed her anyway. It would open the floodgates for all sorts of demands. As the leader of a country it was a foolish thing to do. But I think, as with most episodes of Black Mirror, we had to suspend this disbelief and assume they lived in a society where this was the only option. It's important to understand about Black Mirror that it is largely thematic. We are supposed to think about the issues the episode is exploring, not take it too literally. What accent did she have? The humor of this show is very deadpan, irreverent, and offensive (like, the characters who are offensive are intentionally that way - we're not supposed to agree with them but their ridiculousness is supposed to be funny). If you don't like this kind of humor, you probably won't like this show. I loved Parks and Recreation so I thought I would like this show, but it's pretty different despite having the similar mockumentary format. It took me two seasons of The Office to actually start liking any of the characters besides Pam, Jim, and Oscar. I absolutely hated Michael, I get that he is supposed to be dense and awkward but he was downright selfish and cruel at times. After 2-3 seasons he started to get somewhat likable while still staying clueless. The offensiveness did bother me at first, but I reminded myself that the show was not promoting this kind of thing, it was meant to be outrageous. If you can get used to this kind of humor, it can be extremely funny. The actors' facial expressions and nuances really make for some laugh-out-loud moments. That was my thought. I do like Emma Watson, she comes across as very educated, intelligent and well-spoken. But when she's not made up her looks are average at best. I don't understand how so many people think she's the most beautiful woman on Earth. She looked especially plain in this movie; they didn't seem to make much effort with her makeup or hair. Compare her look in this movie to her red carpet looks. During the song "Belle" the lines about her being the most beautiful girl in town were just laughable. Belle is supposed to be both an intellectual and a stunning beauty. Emmy Rossum fits both these bills - AND she can sing - and would have been pitch perfect for the role. Remember how she was as Christine Daae? She looks straight out of another era and just has this "fairytale" look - huge eyes, beautiful long curly hair, great presence. He was a corporate attorney. I don't know if they make enough in LA to afford a Bel-Air mansion, but they are very wealthy. The jokes were mean but Phil needed to lose weight and he never put in the effort. Even after suffering a heart attack brought on by problems from being overweight, he didn't try! Even after a doctor came and told him his blood pressure and cholesterol were too high and that he needed to lose weight for his health, he dismissed the comments and said he was still in great shape. The man was in denial. I was going to post exactly this sentiment. Jane'ts pregnancy reportedly caused a lot of problems and was one factor that led to her leaving the show. They could have just hidden her pregnancy and it would've been a non-issue, and the unnecessary character of Nicky wouldn't exist. What a horrible woman. Even if she was just making it up, it's clear from her complete lack of empathy why her son became a bully.
