I agree with what you said, Juror 8. I think the gloomy grey/blue coloring is meant to convey a depressed mood to signify the hardships that the Banks family is facing, but things will brighten up (both literally and figuratively) when Mary Poppins arrives.
I'm very excited for this movie (being the life-long fan of Mary Poppins and Disney that I am), but I can't help feeling that all of these Disney/fantasy movies look alike. It's always the same, predictable visual aesthetic: dark blue and grey= sadness; bright, jewel-tone colors= happiness. I'd like to see Hollywood attempt to do something different for a change.
