plugin right at the base of the dish to align it with the Sulaco. I do remember the dish turning. If it all went down like this the terrified colonists would have been on the communications with the corporation right up till the end and Weyland-Yutani would have been in total awareness of the situation. Thus call the Marines. As for which came first the queen or the drone, I think it possible that if an alien is isolated from its kind after a certain time that it has the ability to quickly develop into a Queen. While still a drone it would have hopefully accumulated a few host for the first eggs laid. This would create more drones to continue the cycle. Overall a very successful survival of the species trait to be designed into the DNA of a species that is to be dropped off to dominate a planet. As long as there is one egg left on a planet complete domination would be possible. An alternative theory: As someone mentioned before, if only specific eggs/facehuggers are capable of producing queens then what are the odds that those would be exposed to a host first? Perhaps drones can smell /sense the difference between a queen egg and a regular egg and position their first victims next to the queen egg. This would work fine if the very first victim isn't carried off by it's companions to safety and help. Which would seem the norm with intelligent beings getting hugged. Then you would have a drone far from it's egg patch that would highly unlikely know how to find its way back or even be able to physically get back to deliver a host for the queen egg. My first queen theory would have a much higher success rate for survival and contamination of a planet in my opinion. What say you? All good theories here. I always wondered about this timeline as well and these comments have me considering questions that I didn't ask before. But the one thing that I always assumed from day 1 was that the company knew everything that was happening on the Colony all along and was getting regular reports. It was set up early in the movie that Weyland-Yutani Corporation was an all about the money business. They wouldn't report Ripley's story to the Government/military in fear that they would take over the operation and denying them any profits from the venture. Ties in well with Burke willing to sacrifice people to get the species smuggled back to earth. And I believe Burke was not uppermost executive that knew what was going on there. He was merely a puppet of his bosses and the would be fall guy if it all fell apart. That's why they had him doing all the communications with and make the trip to LV-426. Easier to say he did it without their knowledge concerning the the alie n life form. When they did lose contact with the colony they told the military only Ripley's story, not that they had ordered the colonists to obtain and examine samples and that they had been under attack. The plan then was to use the Colonial Marines to reestablish control and smuggle the life form behind their backs. My favorite movie but yet I can't remember the specifics of the damage to the communications. So correct me if this doesn't fit. ( Like I have to tell you guys that. lol) Some of the theories have suggeested that the aliens intentionally damaged them. I don't agree. I'm sure that it getting damaged during the colonists defense is not unreasonable. It appeared that they were all civilians and few probably had any military style training and so when the drones got inside panic issued. They were setting off seismic charges after all. So possibly the only damage to it was the ability to turn the array from inside. Which is why Bishop had to go outside and plugin right at........... continued....... View all replies >
