I miss stalking the patrons, at the front door, who were returning films in an attempt to snag a hot movie before it was returned and released to the masses. I was uber aggressive. Emma Stone is the best...smart, edgy and beautiful...triple threat! It shouldn't be a chore...just skip this one as it does not speak to you. It's my favorite film ever but I'm a fossil. Agreed. It's an important list to many of us. My Top Eleven(damn the critics): Local Hero Lawrence of Arabia Fandango Sing Street Manhattan Scott Pilgrim Whiplash When Brendan Met Trudy Shakespeare in Love The Philadelphia Story The Stuntman Paths of Glory is so compelling. You have many iconic films. Sing Street is in my Top 10. What terrific music!! Local Hero is my all time #1 film. By movie's end you feel like you have traveled to Furness, Scotland and made some new friends. LOVE it! I tracked it down after hearing it in an ad for Verizon...I think. So slow and sultry...very cool. Jimmy Buffet turned one minor hit into a cottage industry. The hippies had the Dean and yuppies Buffet. House of Yes. "Were you poor? Did you eat chicken pot pie?" What is the old expression: It is better to remain silent and be thought the fool than to speak and remove all doubt! 1. Local Hero: Every viewing would be like a vacation to Scotland 2. As Falls Wichita Falls: Pat Metheny. Double album...double your fun. 3. Parliment of Whores: P.J. O'Rourke I preferred The Sure Thing. A friend of mine will not watch a show without a script! Big Lawrence of Arabia fan. I still see it every summer at the Bryn Mawr Film Institute. oops... The most macho of all the lists. You are partial to body count fare. A Clockwork Orange was my fave for years. Your list is uncluttered by romcoms that's for sure! I preferred Where the Buffalo Roam to Fear & Loathing but your list contains a pantload of iconic films.
