Definitely true that the information was kept from the viewers as a "sting" on us as well, but there was also a very real plot reason for all of it, as I detailed a moment ago in my reply to the O.P. It wasn't that Doyle Lonnegan was unfamiliar with horse race lingo. In fact, the trick only worked because he was very familiar with it. Kid Twist told him to place it on Lucky Dan with the assumption that Lonnegan would not clarify "win or place?" and would blindly race over and place a bet on Lucky Dan to win. That way, he would have legitimately, at least as far as he knew, lost all his money, and would have no valid reason to demand it back. Kid Twist can correctly say that he said "place" not "win," and Lonnegan, though angry, would hopefully have to admit defeat. However, he MIGHT be too mad to give up and leave. He might try to kill Kid Twist, or Gondorff, or react in some unpredictable and deadly way. The faked FBI raid was to add a second layer of protection for Twist, Gondorff, Hooker and the rest. Lastly, If Lonnegan ever did realize he'd been conned, or simply decided to force the issue and demand his money back or else he'd kill them all, they'd have been in trouble. Since Lonnegan thinks they are both dead, he won't pursue any sort of revenge. I haven't seen some of those, but of those I have seen my rankings would be very different. I think she's quite pretty. I don't really care about the size of a woman's bust, so that isn't a factor in my opinion, I just think she's got a beautiful face and a great overall body. She's the classic Hollywood starlet, like a modern-day Veronica Lake. You made a foolish statement and now you've switched to insults rather than defend it or retract it. Go ahead and hide behind your rage and insults. No way they are gonna do MechaGodzilla. He's been used too often. If they ever have Godzilla and Kong team up it's gonna be against either Gigan or Megalon. Bookmark this post and come back in 7 years and admit I was right! I've never seen the movie. I'm pointing out what you revealed about your twisted world view in your comment. You have a pretty warped view of the world if that's your takeaway from the film. It didn't occur to me at all. I've watched the film several times, and it makes sense to me. They look like they could be about the same age. Yeah, I went with three broads as a part of my group. At the end of the last film, the two had a begrudging respect for one another, but it was made clear that they agreed to go their separate ways. Godzilla is king of the surface world and Kong rules inner Earth. Kong showing up violated that. Also, Godzilla had been sensing that some major monkey-ish enemy was about to pop up from the underworld, and may have mistakenly thought Kong was that ape. MINOR SPOILER They are pink because he kills a pink girl monster and drains all of her energy to charge himself up for a big battle to come. That's like a $3 billion opening by today's standards! A friend and I are seeing it at 10 tonight. It looks like about half the seats have been sold for that show. Hopefully others will show up and fill the room. Any possibility of that went out the window when we saw him run to Rey's aid at the end. The way he fired his blaster was pure Han Solo. Zero chance he's anyone else's kid. I highly doubt it. I get the sense he was dropping clues that she was related to Obi Wan Kenobi, though those may have been meant to hide a different origin. I don't believe he had any intention of making her a Palpatine, and that storyline was likely developed after Rian Johnson took the story off the rails in part 2. It's pure speculation of course, but Rey hearing Obi Wan speak to her when she touched Luke's light saber, as well as the moments where she appeared confused, and then after a moment where it seemed a voice was speaking in her head, she opened her eyes with a newfound understanding of the Force, suggested to me that we were meant to think she was a Kenobi. He's the one who speaks from the dead to guide Jedi, and I would not have been surprised if it were later revealed that when she used the Jedi mind trick on James Bond it was after Kenobi told her how. Same with the moment at the film's climax, where she seems perplexed and defeated, before suddenly finding the resolve to fight back against Kylo Ren-- again after a moment with her eyes closed, seeming to hear some sort of guide speaking to her. I also got the sense that Han Solo was meant to have purposely sacrificed himself in order to help Ben maintain his cover as a bad guy, and remain close enough to Snoke to take him down. That may just be wishful thinking on my part, but there are multiple ways to interpret their final scene together, and Han Solo seemed to know what was coming and embraced it, which suggests to me that he and Ben were acting in tandem. Who's to say? Don't bother. He has a point to prove and he's not about to let reality deter him. Homecoming is my favorite of the three by far. It's one of the best superhero films ever made in my opinion. The subsequent two films are also very good, but they aren't all-time greats as is the first. I think I like Far From Home a slight bit better than No Way Home because it relies less on fan service, but I can easily see someone making the case that 3 is a little better than 2. Nothing racy about it. I liked that more attention was paid to individual character growth and storylines than in past Ghostbusters films. Usually it's more of a "here's a ghost, let's get it" plot, and not much else happens. This time there were parallel storylines, and a more serious tone throughout, which may be what resulted in fewer laughs on your part? The family dynamic was interesting, as Paul Rudd tried to fit in as a father, and Phoebe's angst was well-portrayed. It would have been easy to go overboard with the latter, or rely on the same overblown tropes, but instead they kept it believable. I found myself laughing throughout, though I can't recall if I was laughing even more at Afterlife. I certainly enjoyed that film as well, though I couldn't tell you anything that happened in it now that I try to recall it. The original is still by far my favorite, and yeah, I definitely disliked the sequel. Even the 2016 reboot was better than that one in my opinion, though not by much.
