While she is beautiful I don't like her hair cut nor her costume nor her pissed off demeanor. Helen Slater was delicate and feminine with her beautiful smile and classic skirt and dress. Why are DC Comics so ashamed of their super heroes and heroines? Why not go back to the classic look and bright cheerful costumes and great lines like "truth, justice and the American way". People clap for this worldwide because it is iconic and fiction. This is why Marvel is so successful as are some sequels like Top Gun. Give people the real Mccoy instead of cheap changes. Such a pretty woman but made to look like she's PMS mad in her scenes or constipated and angry. Cool. I liked ST:SNW the best among all. (ST:D and ST:P were utter garbage, rated 1/10 and 1.5/10). Strange New Worlds is real ST. The few misses imo are the too many TOS characters (why? ST is great as is without them everywhere and only Spock really served with Pike. While Majel Barrett played number one, she wasn't Nurse Chapel. They have Spock, Uhura, Chapel and now James T Kirk, Sam Kirk as well which is frankly ridiculous. Only Spock should have been there and that too only for a small season. Also I feel some characters can go from the incoherent babbler Dr mbenga and his silly story to the helmsman lady with the weird haircut and too macho lines which makes her irritating to Uhura who should've been some new character. The Chinese lady playing Khan Noonien singhs relative can also go. She's just all over the place and I would have preferred someone like Miles OBrien type here. Best part of SNW besides the awesome feel and ambience and terrific uniforms are undoubtedly Capt Pike and Una Chin Riley. Fantastic actor and actress and great performance by them. Stories and plot are great and it feels like I'm watching good star trek for a change with mature actors and actresses and well respected and made content. Because it was much cheaper than live action. And it only came about because of TV reruns and resurgence of people who wanted more star trek. And it would have died there tbh had it not been for Star Wars. After people in Hollywood saw how popular 1977 Star Wars, a sci-fi fantasy was, everyone jumped on it including Star Trek folks. Without that success there would have been no Star Trek. Good for us Here's mine 1. Goldeneye 2. Dr. No 3. From Russia With Love 4. You Only Live Twice 5. The Spy Who Loved Me 6. Skyfall 7. Goldfinger 8.The Man With The Golden Gun 9. For Your Eyes Only 10. The World Is Not Enough 11. Thunderball 12. On Her Majesty's Secret Service 13. The Living Daylights 14. License To Kill 15. Diamonds Are Forever 16. Tomorrow Never Dies 17. Casino Royale 18. A View To A Kill 19. Octopussy 20. Moonraker 21. Live And Let Die 22. Die Another Day 23. Never Say Never Again 24. Quantum Of Solace 25. Spectre Imo the best Bonds are 1. Pierce Brosnan. Suave, handsome, self deprecating humor, witty and cool. Ideal Bond. Goldeneye was the best Bond movie 2. Sean Connery. While Sylvia Trench gave him the style by saying her name with her last name, first name last name, Sean Connery copied it and it became the iconic Bond, James Bond. He was also cool, suave and witty with funny dialogs. His movies were comical and cheesy at times but fun. 3. Roger Moore. Boyish charm and suave and cool for first several movies. Towards the end with Octopussy and A View To A Kill, he was looking quite aged and the boyish charm wore off fast. Kinda like the first Moneypenny who looked like a grandma at the end 4. Timothy Dalton. 2 movies which were decently Bond but he wasn't quite Bond 5. Daniel Craig. Average movies and not Bond like. Last couple were laughably bad. Just didn't get any Bond feel from his movies. 6. George Lazenby. Okay ish Bond with a one off. New one must be Henry Cavill. He is Bond like and feels like Brosnan and Connery, back to suave, cool and handsome who can get women salivating at him believably. A lot of Indian people from the northern regions of India look more European/Caucasian because of genetics. North Indians are the descendants of the Aryans who invaded/migrated and took over India about 3500 years ago around 1500 BCE. They brought their language (which became Sanskrit) and culture and traditions and possibly religion too (which became Hinduism). They hence have more lighter skin, some have pale eyes (green, grey etc.) and browner hair, larger physique. Then the children of these Indian immigrants in the US do look a lot more white skinned as a result. By contrast, people of Southern India are more darker skinned, smaller physique, black eyes, dark black hair. They are the more original inhabitants of India (Southern) and descended directly from the nomadic Africans about 15,000 to 30,000 years ago or even more like 50,000 to 75,000 years ago. The people of Eastern regions of India West Bengal and east look very Asian by comparison i.e. more Chinese looking because they share that DNA. India is a very large country with very large number of people and due to the different conquerors and gene pool mixing. Have you seen Persians (Iranians?) Many look very Caucasian. Some Afghans, Pakistanis etc. The whole Partition is very complex and nuanced and there's things everyone did which can be viewed as right or wrong. The Indians, Pakistanis, British etc. all did things here which can be taken as right or wrong. The Indians wanted the British gone. The Muslims wanted their own country (Pakistan, basically using parts of India which had Muslim majority; and we're talking about millions of people here). The British had to leave quick. They drew a border ratified by Indians and Pakistanis which created India, Pakistan and left some territories' fates up in the air such as Jammu and Kashmir, Hyderabad area and few more. The Indians and Pakistanis wanted them gone asap. The British created the map in a hurry. Imagine had the partition NOT happened - it would mean a situation like Iraq or Syria or Sudan or other places like Israel/Palestine - basically non stop civil war for 75+ years - someone would become Prime Minister of the united India with the Muslims and Hindus and others fighting non-stop for their own nation. It would have been a disaster. So the British creating India and Pakistan border was the correct thing. But given Indians and Pakistanis didn't want the British there, it was done in a hurry and lead to some issues. So British, Indians and Pakistanis are all responsible for the mess. Then the bloodshed during the partition. I'm not fully sure why the people had to move across the border. There are Hindus in Pakistan (albeit very few today) and Muslims in India (probably 12% or so of the 1.5 bn people which is like 180mn Muslims). Then people moved across and fought each other and killed each other. I'm not sure the British wanted this or caused this. It was all the pent up religious animosity and anger. Even within Pakistan there was turmoil, despite West Pakistan and East Pakistan being all Muslims - from the divided Punjab in the West and divided Bengal in the East. And it eventually led to Bangladesh being formed in 1971 post war with India. When she goes home she probably gets relief by speaking in her native Indian accent...kind of like taking off her shoes relief when gets home She is beautiful and her movies are fun. Quantico was average but Citadel might be really good, at least from trailers. Hopefully she respects and thanks America for giving her so much instead of being someone who puts down the hand that feeds her especially considering she's said that Bollywood did not treat her well. 6. The flying. This was more epic and graceful in 1978 than 2018 (or whenever recent). You don't need cgi crazies with supersonic booms and obeying laws of physics type thing to small extent. No one cares. Make it fun. A real Superman won't be able to fly like that without causing tornados or booms or whatever. But no one is here for accurate physics. 7. The action. Shaky cam must go away for ever. Man Of Steel had the worst effects where I was somehow able to make out some action every 20s or so. Maybe it was too much I was seeing. How about they spin the camera nonstop wildly filming this. Maybe then I will be able to enjoy the movie eh? 8. Love interest Lois. The chemistry was missing tbh in the newer movies. Margot had a kick as a strong woman without going over the top (i.e. making men weak to make her look stronger) but more importantly she had chemistry with Superman and Clark. Totally missing in the recent few movies. Even TV shows don't have them. Smallville guy looked like Superman to a small extent in the show but much more like Superman when he matured. Should've cast him then. He had an aura. Superboy actor S1 was amazing. 9. Dialogs. Forced, cringey nowadays. I think I'm done. Superman is a fan favorite and very powerful alien. He is known and loved worldwide. The reasons imo why it didn't do well or other Superman returns are 1. They are too ashamed of his costume. So gone are the nice cheerful colorful blue, yellow and red. It's muted dull with silly bridal like cape and that too digital. Colors are darkened and the suit is moronic. Not iconic. They are ashamed of his red undies and S meaning Superman. There's also no S on the red cape. His hair is also weirded now with Cavill having a balding look instead of the iconic swirly lock on one side. 2. Casting is hit or miss. While Routh and Cavill are great actors, both seemed off tbh. They were better as Clark Kent but no different as Superman. Reeves had a clear difference between Kent and Superman. 3. Ashamed of saying iconic lines. "Truth, justice....and all that". Uh..what? It's "Truth, justice and the American way". Saying American way doesn't detract from anything except showing America still is a beacon of hope and leads the way. This turns people off, especially international viewers who grew up hearing this and international viewers do not want these iconic lines chopped to "please" them. They want the original Superman. People are smart and mature enough to separate politics and movies. 4. Bad villains. Batman v Superman. Batman? Really? He's a guy who works out but in a suit operating at night against low level thugs. Making him a match for Superman, a real superhero, is a joke. And obviously the kryptonite comes out as that is the only thing, except they have loads of it in solid, liquid and gas form somehow. And it is also inconsistent. Maybe use brainiac or mxzy...or whoever alien as a better threat. Justice League is fine but tbh Batman overall is a joke in that league and a danger to himself. And ditto Lex Luthor. I mean cmon. 5. Retelling the origin story again and again in bad ways. Superman Returns avoided the origin but the story was not too good. It is very pretentious and that is the point. Given the vast number of movies and in different languages, it is not right to pick some random subset and call it the best picture. Best Picture among what? All movies made by all countries in all languages? I would agree with you that Best American movie and Best Foreign Movie category seems ideal. American movies should be movies made by Americans and should be the prime highlight of Oscars which is an American award. Parasite isn't the first foreign language film to have multiple wins in American awards. The Last Emperor was in English and Mandarin as well so maybe that one too. Overall I think it is stupid to have non American movies in Oscars and pick from like very few and then also put them in Best Foreign Film and Best Picture overall too. Oscars should just remove the foreign films and only award American movies in English primarily. Those should be the criteria. Oscars should be about celebration of American movies and pride in American movies. We should certainly show and enjoy foreign movies in our theaters but then create a Best Foreign Picture category for non American movies (which could be in English too such as from Canada/Britain). Generic is an apt word to describe this. And I realized after watching this movie why Marvel movies are so much better. Because they are not afraid of their character and who they are nor afraid to say their name proudly. e.g. "The truth is.... I AM IRONMAN".... Epic! "Who am I? I'm Spider-man!"... Epic! Here, after the irritant asks him at the end, "How does it feel", Adam says "Wrong" after a long pause, jumps high and smashes at high speed the stone throne with no regard for injuring the 3 guys there with shrapnel and after annoying mom says "what should we call you?".... he doesn't even say his "Black Adam" because it cuts to end credits. Are you that ashamed to say the word "Black Adam"? Seriously... Same with Superman - "Truth, justice...and all that"... "And all that"???? What's wrong with saying "The American Way". That's how it is in the comics. Superman does say that. People around the world watched it and loved it in 1978 and even today like that movie. That one "The American Way" does not change or solve world problems nor change politics of the world..... This is why DC Flops. They are too ashamed of their chars unlike Marvel which embraces them and proudly makes them stand tall and strong and thus it is a success. Do you not know how bookmarks work? No. He used bookmarks to know where it is. It's as simple as that. On a rewatch noticed something else quite odd - Kara goes up again to investigate and is looking for a signal and keeps coughing due to sandstorms and low oxygen level and sees the triangular spaceship above. This spaceship clearly picked up her presence and hence they came down presumably from that ship. But she says that she was up there for 30m and then goes back down where only a second or two has passed. Given what we witnessed inside the cave, the timeframe does not gel. 30m up for her is very likely microseconds only for them. So she went up and down basically instantaneously which what not how it was shown with the sun spinning so fast that it was seasons going by every second or maybe even years going by. The fountain likely is where time almost stops but there's clearly concentric circles of time waves emanating from it with different time passages. Fantastic concept and movie still. I hope there is a sequel or follow up TV Series on this concept. Oscar awards have been a farce since these things happened - Roberto Benigni won for best actor despite Tom Hanks deserving it more. Russell Crowe lost to Denzel Washington despite Russell clearly having earned it more. While Denzel Washington is a terrific actor and deserved it for other movies he didn't even get nomination for. And the thing I absolutely dislike about Oscars so don't watch it anymore is this - Foreign movies like Parasite win for best foreign film AND best film. Despite American movies unable to qualify for best foreign film. That's completely idiotic. Best Film in Oscar is about best American made/produced and American movies in English, not foreign movies. They should be in the foreign film category only. Oscars were about American movies and celebrating American achievements in movie making. The other nations have their own internal equivalents where there are zero Hollywood movies. Still, we can celebrate and have foreign movies but put them in Foreign category only. Don't put in Best Film (Which refers to best Hollywood American films) And secondly, the films are all low budget movies that no one has seen or liked. What are Oscars celebrating? Movies that mass audiences likes are always ignored in lieu of some stick up their behind few dozen viewers who like the nominated movies. And it is all a scam. Marketing, advertising, changing the category for best chances, ignoring actors/actresses routinely to fill color quotas or just ignoring good actors and actresses (like Brendon Fraser being ignored). And then saying "best actor, male" and "best actor, female" nonsense. The word is "actor" and "actress", established in English for gender differences. What's next? "best male, male", "best male, female"? [I am a liberal Democrat who is sick of some modern PC bs because it feels illogical to me]. Oscars have lost their meaning and charm to me. It is a FRAUD and I can see it was so even in the 70s with Godfather. That's a shame about China but tbh who cares about them if they want to be that racist way. We don't ban their movies because we have class and also we have the most important thing in the world; freedom of speech. Top Gun Maverick showed US doesn't bow down to anyone including China and made over a billion without them. So I think a really good movie like Black Panther also does not need them. Keep that up and Chinese will find they've been alienated by the world and they don't have entertainment. Eventually they will revolt and a revolution will bring change there because ultimately humans throughout history want one thing : freedom. To explore, to speak, to have a say, to trade, to possess. It's in our million year plus evolution in our DNA. Tom Cruise has always delivered amazing movies and I think very highly of him. He has made really amazing movies (avg of his movies is likely 8.5/10 imo) and A Few Good Men is in my top 5 of all time movies. Oblivion, Edge of Tomorrow, Collateral, Mission Impossible series, Valkyrie, Minority Report etc. I don't understand how he has not yet won an Oscar. Oscars have this disconnect with reality imo and just vote for movies that are shunned by most audiences and it is almost becoming irrelevant. I also don't understand how foreign movies can win in best picture AND in best foreign movie (where American movies can't even be nominated). While foreign movies are amazing and should be celebrated and I watch and enjoy them a lot, Oscars are about American movie achievements (mainly English language movies). To me, it is this sort of disconnect that turns me off of Oscars - no name movies I have zero interest in and low budget/low revenue out there movies getting nominated and wins. To me, this makes it very irrelevant in my life and while I still hope Tom Cruise wins an Oscar given there is no other equivalent to Oscars, I very much doubt the voters for Oscars will celebrate American achievements or movies or actors/actresses. Long ago, Hitchcock movies, LotR and others were celebrated so well. There were few international movies here and there added in needlessly for wins like Life is Beautiful, Amelie etc. when they should've been in Best Foreign movies/actors, I feel Oscars is going ridiculous. And since they've gone that route, I hope Bollywood movies win best movies/actor/actress as well next. Seems like it. 7 hours and these are the major events 1. Galadriel does not go to valar, accidentally found halbrand and numenor and has them go to southlands to kill some orcs 2. Some guy crashed like a meteor and we still don't know who he is but is being pursued over 3 episodes by 3 mysterious women with significant power 3. Harfoots moved to a new place 4. Elves found mithril and dwarves didn't help them 5. Mt doom explodes and mordor is formed, all in basically 5mins. That's about it. That's a lot of time for very little story. This isn't supposed to be a whodunit show. LotR doesn't need mystery speculation as to which char is who. Just tell us because I bet you the reveal will fall flat. It's quite childish behavior imo. Visually it is stunning but story and balance and above all what made LotR is lacking. And that is TEAMWORK. They worked well on their strengths in the movie unlike here. Why are you discarding time travel or parallel universes or multiverse? It's quite possible when he sleeps or dies, he is time traveling back in the timeline and overwriting his earlier self with the new copy which is why he retains his memories. There is only 1 timeline which is getting overwritten each time by him jumping to 24h earlier right at that instant. So the others immediately, in the timeline that is erased, cease to exist. They don't have any experience because they're gone in an instant as soon he time traveled back. If parallel universe hops then there are consequences he is facing in those other universes but he disappears from those universes and overtakes himself in the new parallel universe at 24h in past. They have a mystery in those universes or those universes perhaps just disappear as well Re. The energy requirements perhaps that's what caused the loop to end. The energy powering his unique time travel ran out and it stopped. This is a great movie and fascinating concept and it is in my top 10 all time movies. It's a classic.
