In the age of Reboots Help! Needle in a haystack.. I think! View all posts >

I hate that this is even a conversation. Not here specifically, but in society in general. Unless it's a real person being characterized for a bio pic, why even cast someone with a specific race or body type, hair colour, etc in mind?? Other than the fact that studios and the powers that be when it comes to getting a story from paper to screen have to think about things like what will get the highest ratings and satisfy those key demos. Hence the hate part, because unfortunately as others have said here, we are still in an age where people have issues with who they watch on their screens. I get that if your story is about a (fictional) Male Olympic athlete in his prime, you're not going to cast a 250 lb woman. But look at Shonda Rhimes when casting Grey's Anatomy. She didn't write parts with race or gender in mind for most of them. And the result was an incredibly diverse cast with gripping stories to tell for many years to come. If we moved past that as a society, I think it would do wonders, but that's just me. Love: Hawaii Five 0 is my current and longest #1 but really the list is long for many different reasons Hate: can't think of one I'd use as strong a word as hate for, but there's a very long list of ones I think are a complete waste and/or have 0 interest in. Any Housewives Shows about people who all have 'K' names and are famous for being famous... Anything involving children wearing hideous making and being paraded like animals.. I guess most reality TV though I used to be a big fan back in the early days of Survivior, Big Brother and The Amazing Race. Have no interest in shows like GoT or TWD or the AHS type stuff... the list goes on. Lol. Nice to meet you too! :) I was an avid imdb boards visitor so it's really nice to find a new place to discuss movies and tv and any other whims.. like that movie starring that guy who said the things. lol ;) Thank you!!! And no worries, any 'wrong doing' is more than a million times forgiven thanks to solving this oddball request! :P not that I was upset in anyway, just surprised really. lol. I'm usually pretty good at piecing together random Google searches to find stuff but this one got me. Thanks again!! I look forward to chatting with you guys some more :) I guess I'm the perfect living, breathing example of this, lol. I've googled every keyword I can think of five ways from Sunday and am still drawing a complete blank. Sooo annoying :( That's why I called my post a needle in a haystack, I knew it was a pretty slim chance someone who know what I was talking about but ya gotta have faith, right? ;) and no worries, I'm glad I stumbled across this gem, troll suspicions or not :) kspkap, I'm genuinely at a loss for words, lol. I was pretty confused about your reply until I hunted down this 'Speedy Killings' thread. I'm not a troll, just a super frustrated woman grasping at straws to figure this out. I promise. It's driving me crazy. I'm curious though, what is it about my post that made you think troll? That it was my only post and such a vague, weird sounding question? I literally googled movie chats and asked in the first one that came up with positive feedback since the IMDb boards are gone. I'm kinda desperate :/ Anyway.. on I search! Thanks, I really appreciate it Catbookss :) I just wish I could remember more about it :| Normally when this kind of thing happens to me I have at least a tidbit of a memory and can google SOMETHING which eventually leads to my memory being jogged enough to get a solid lead. But not this time apparently. SO frustrating. View all replies >
