That's what I gave it.
get in a taxi and a few minutes later theyre in downtonw bangkok (900 kilometers away).
It's actually about 845 kilometers in a vehicle, which would make it an 11.5 hours trip. Mundane things like traveling time are always condensed in movies for obvious reasons.
phuket
It's unnecessary to cuss in this king of dialogue. Please be respectful. Thanks. Winston Churchill and Enoch Powell were black. Appreciate your take on it. I never said aversion to tedium was a character flaw. I kindly suggested that those with ADHD or who require constant explosions should give it a pass; no condemnation. I'm speaking as a cinephile who is perfectly able to enjoy a flick with loads of action and F/X, assuming it's compellingly done. Also, you seem to be insinuating that recreating mundane history in cinema is automatically tedious; it's not if the viewer is interested in the corresponding historical events and the film is done well, like "Black Robe."
the 'nobody knows we're at this place' cliché
But don't teens seeking thrills often do things behind their parents' backs in real life?
The 'college kids are stupid' cliché
Isn't it true that academically smart youths are often ignorant or unskilled when it comes to life in the day-to-day grind outside academia?
The 'military guy is nuts' cliché
But aren't ex-military types more likely to suffer PTSD than the average citizen, not to mention be skilled with weapons and have experience in life-or-death situations?
The 'let's break into this place' cliché
This was the catalyst for the havoc that ensues and, as such, there's no movie without it. Besides, partying youths are more prone to do dubious things that people with common sense wouldn't do.
big frickin' lock keeping us out' cliché
You can attribute this to the law of reverse psychology (
).
The 'Daddy comes to save the day, but he actually had my mom killed' cliché
No such cliché exists; and you know it.
All the kids are killed except for the lead' cliché
If the 'final girl' trope wasn't included, you'd probably complain about that too.
Ben (Gonzalo Menendez), he was the only character with any sort of development
Actually, most of the characters are effectively fleshed-out, which is a welcome surprise, plus the story is a little more intricate than the set-up suggests, as explained by chet19 in this thread
.
Please kill these annoying imbeciles. Eduardo was the MOST irritating
Actually, Eduardo was the only annoying imbecile, which is why Ben pegs him as an "ass clown." The rest were normal college youths and likable enough, although Nina's head needs examined for being with Eduardo. I'm not saying "Desecrated" is great cinema, but it delivers the goods for those in the mood for backwoods brutality and don’t mind low-budget issues. It’s certainly superior to Haylie Duff’s “Backwoods” from seven years prior. Sometimes, such as Star Trek IV being superior to II and III. Then there's T3, which -- while decent -- doesn't hold a candle to T1 and T2. Appreciate it, brah.
I'm complaining about tokenism.
J.R.R. Tolkien had nothing to do with this movie! There are 500 genders, you BIGOT!!! It's currently on several streaming channels, like Tubi, Freevee and Plex. HOT!!! It's more colorful, entertaining and twisted than the original from 1974, highlighted by a superior cast of women. Unfortunately, the film's tone and ending were marred by the interference of studio exec Bob Weinstein, who wanted a more over-the-top horror flick with cartoonish embellishments. The preposterous ending in particular (with the antagonist crawling through the ceiling -- rolling my eyes) seems tacked-on and almost ruins the movie. Thankfully, I think some versions of the film exist that are closer to Morgan’s original vision, at least as far as the climax goes. As long as you don't mind storytelling that makes you work to put the pieces together, it's worth a look. As legnadibrom pointed out, the singer of Overkill, Bobby Blitz Ellsworth, is featured prominently as a commentator, but so are the original drummer and guitarist -- Rat Skates and Bobby Gustafson -- just less so. Also, Rat Skates was heavily involved in the behind-the-scenes production. "Lawman & the Law" is the 1.5 minute intro; the proper song is fittingly called "Anthem":
The band
released that song in 2004 and 2006 on demos, which explains how it was available for this 2006 documentary. They included it on their only 2008 full-length album and that's the last anyone's heard of the band, except for two singles released in 2010. Definitely miscast. The part called for a minor, which means 20 years-old or less back then, and he was clearly 30 or over. I looked him up and he was 31 during shooting. I'll pay more attention to that scene the next time I watch it for explanatory details but, if it takes place in the old mill, then it's likely he caught a shocking glimpse of the maniac twin sister, which stopped him in his tracks. After all, the whole story is based around building up suspense concerning the mysterious presence in the mill and giving the big reveal at the climax. As you point out, it's doesn't seem likely that Susannah merely calling him an "animal" would suddenly give him a conscience. Me too. Actually, I prefer it to the original flick. It's like these people never saw (or read about) the shocking atrocities these Hamas terrorists did when they invaded Israel on October 7th and slaughtered innocent citizens en masse like barbaric savages. It's not like videos (
) or quick info (
) are hard to find. Bottom line: Don't brazenly start war (especially with a more advanced society), if you don't want war. Duh.
