I was shocked when I saw the 7.6 rating on IMDB. Definitely wouldn’t watch again.

It’s impressive that they managed to accomplish what other modern movies fail at time and time again with creating a genuine and stunning 60’s aesthetic with the film style along with the clothes/makeup/hair. But it’s wasted on a sh!t screenplay and bad acting.

WTAF. It looks almost like a scene-by-scene remake of the original, just a slight change here and there and cringe AF. Hollywood is done.
A movie with a similar vibe I’d recommend is Sooner Or Later from 1979. It has the dreamy Rex Smith and is very good for a made-for-TV movie.
The pop songs are really cringe, but I don’t understand using the term ‘dated’ as a criticism. Almost every piece of pop culture is or will be dated and distinctly of its time. ‘Don’t You Forget About Me’ has a distinct 80’s sound, but it’s still good.
Watched it last night. Not great, but charming and nostalgic. Definitely worth a watch. The 80’s were THE decade for teen movies.
Her mental health would have deteriorated even if the abortion didn’t happen. It’s common for child stars who are thrust into the spotlight at an immature age and whose narcissistic parents view them as a meal ticket. Not to mention how she was stalked and harassed by the paps everywhere she went.
Britney’s life has a lot of similarities to Judy Garland’s (although Judy was a lot more talented)- performing on stage since they were tiny, becoming mega-stars in their teens, the emotionally abusive parents, being pressured into abortions they didn’t want, and finally deteriorating into pill-popping manic-depressives who don’t have a relationship with their children and have a hard time looking after themselves and their finances.
Judy eventually relied on fans opening up their homes to her so she would have a place to sleep. She didn’t make it to 50. Britney was broke before the conservatorship. How long before she empties her bank account and meets Judy’s fate?
The decline of culture is a serious issue. Mediocrity has always had a spotlight, but now mediocrity is the best that the music industry has to offer and that’s sad.
The most talented people are now actively barred from the music industry.
Fame just unmasked him and emboldened him to be his true self.
Not as bad as when Janet Jackson butchered Ventura Highway.

That couldn’t be further from the truth. You just don’t know how to be gentle and patient. Dogs are draining with their dependence on others to entertain and lead them.

Women can be portrayed as empowered without bashing men. I haven’t seen Barbie, but what I’ve heard about it does sound like it could be anti-male. I’ll wait until it comes to streaming to watch.

While reading this the first time, I pictured her as the owner of a soap (as in the cleansing kind) brand.

Ideally, The Ten Commandments (1956) would be on the list, but in reality, including a 4-hour movie in a movie marathon is a bit much.
