Alpha: 6/10 Gravy: 6/10 (and yes, Charlie Day!) I like the sound of Excision. Dangal (2016) - This was an interesting movie. For a while I was annoyed by the guy being a complete asshole, but later he came around. I especially liked the wrestling parts. (8/10) Doctor Sleep (2019) - After hearing a lot of great things about this, I couldn't help being slightly disappointed. It was good but not great. I really didn't find it scary at all. (7/10) True Grit (2010) - Good. I thought there were some ways it could have been a little better, but it mostly accomplished what I hoped. It reminded me a lot of Bone Tomahawk. (8/10) The Big Lebowski (1998) - I watched this for the first time about 9 years ago and wasn't very impressed. I realize now that I wasn't able to fully appreciate it back then, because this was a damn good movie. It was really funny and entertaining, and I loved the characters. (8/10) The Jesus Rolls (2019) (5/10) Witness for the Prosecution (1956) - Really good and has some good twists. (8/10) Capernaum (2018) - This was quite a movie. A movie that can really hit you emotionally. Seeing the lives of these people was eye-opening. (8/10) Inside Llewyn Davis (2013) - I thought the first 40-45 minutes of this one were really good. After that, it took a downturn and became a bit of a drag, in my opinion. I ended up being slightly disappointed. (7/10) Ikiru (1952) - A bureaucrat tries to find a meaning in his life after he discovers he has terminal cancer. (7/10) Plans for this week (likely won't get to all of these): Judgment at Nuremberg (in progress) The Treasure of the Sierra Madre Children of Heaven Barton Fink Interstellar (rewatch) A Serious Man Snatchers (2019) Pat Benatar Alanis Morissette Joan Jett I’m tall and hate it. Gene Hackman Alan Arkin Al Pacino Dick Van Dyke William Shatner Jack Nicholson Molly's Game: 7/10 Facing the Giants: 7/10 The Lodge: 8/10 My Neighbor Totoro: 7/10 The Secret World of Arrietty (2010) - It was pretty good, not quite up to the standard of most of the other Studio Ghibli movies I've seen so far. (7/10) Ponyo (2008) - Very good and imaginative. Definitely an enjoyable watch. (8/10) Porco Rosso (1992) - Good story and interesting, there was one part at the end that brought it down for me. (7/10) Gone with the Wind (1939) - Thought it was very good. Now officially the longest movie I've ever seen. Thought a lot of the characters were pretty interesting. (8/10) Double Indemnity (1944) - I know this is popular, but it was a big disappointment to me. I honestly found it to be quite boring. (6/10) In the Name of the Father (1993) - Hadn't heard of this movie until recently. It was really good. It gets more interesting as it goes on. (8/10) I’ve seen every movie Quentin Tarantino and Christopher Nolan have made, and there isn’t a single one that I would consider bad. But I don’t think they get a pass at all. I see people criticizing them all the time and saying their movies suck. Dunkirk, Interstellar, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood in particular get tons of hate. J.K. Rowling has said herself that it’s for all ages. View all replies >
